I agree, 1 is better than 2. 2 had too many puzzles and I also had to look at a guide several times to beat it. But I still Love both games. Getting GoW3 from Santa!:D
The first game was great...The second improved on some things but overall I thought it was lacking. I couldn't stand the third for some reason. I got to about 1/2 way through and quit playing it. It just seems like an old game that was given a really fancy paint job.spazzx625I see where you're coming from and I think it's probably due to the fact GOW3 has a fixed camera which is synonymous with the series, worked fine last gen but this gen it feels dated. I personally didn't mind it but it would have been awesome to be able to control the camera in GOW3.
From a gameplay point of view GOW2 &GOW3 were definitely not okay and terrible. I say this because Im surprised you found GOW great but didn't care for the sequels despite the gameplay being better with new attacks and weapons. Or you think the story went sour after the first one :PGoW: Great

Im almost finished the 2nd now and dont get me worng its a really good game, just think the 1st game is a classic. The problem with the 2nd is i find it very frustrating to play at times,i have been playing it for around 3 hours straight today and i think i must of had to look up a walkthrough around ten times,i dont know how anyone could finish this game without a little help.
The GoW series is up there as my fav series ever. Its right there with the MGS series for me. Each game improved on certain things from the last. The first was so good because it was so new and brutal. The 2nd kicked up the epic factor, beefed up the graphics, and improved the controls. The 3rd took epic to a new level in terms of scale, excellent lighting, the controls stayed the same and the weapons got worse or the same for the most part. I also was not a fan of how the story ended. I would like to see what Balrog had envisioned for the conclusion of his masterpiece instead.
I really hope they make a HD collection of the psp games so that I can enjoy those the way they were meant to be. On a big screen in surround sound.

ive had zero problems with any of the gow games. never had to figure anything out. the puzzles are tedious but simple. the boss fights dont rly require any thinking until the end. i think the only thing that ever frustrated me thru all 3 games was the blade bridges in hades in the original. even still i didnt need to put the controller down and look for help.
Whoo hoo just beat god of war 2,end battle with zeus was good but overall IMO game was just ok,not like the 1st IMO,not sure if ill go for the 3ed now,but saying that i have enjoyed playing the god of war collection.
i thought GOW II was the best in the series. GOW had the best story but it had a couple frustrating parts (timed spike room for instance). GOWIII had the best combat (grabbing enemies and using them as battering rams, distance grabbing, etc.), but the story was, imo, terrible. GOWII had the best combination of combat, story, level design, and pacing; i disliked the ending though.
I have got of war 1 and 2,finished the 1st one though it was great, played about half of the 2nd one, was really good game but felt the 1st was better, plus kept getting stuck on the 2nd one,and remember having to look up walkthrough a few times,so after not playing the 2nd one for a few months im back playing it and thinking of getting the 3rd one when im finished, just wanted to see how people rated all 3 games IMO the 1st was better than the 2nd,and im yet to play the 3rd,would like to hear peoples thoughts.eleven1181They were all great games and make a great trilogy to own. The first was a good game. It had the best written story out of all three and it was decently long for an action/adventure game. The second one obviously improved graphics and I loved the enviroments and backdrops more in this game then the first.
I loved where the action took place but I also thought the story and near the end dragged on way too much. The game was really long but that doesn't mean that was good thing. It was and it wasn't. At a certain point I couldn't wait for the game to end and the story wasn't as good as the first. The third had awesome boss fights but it had a way weaker story then previous games and could have been better. The ending was satisfying though. Gameplay and combat for all three were amazing but didn't really improve in 2 and 3 which isn't a bad thing because if its not broke don't fix it.
The only thing that changed were weapons and Magic powers. I like the Magic Powers more in the first and second. I actually liked using all the weapons in 3 which I never really did or liked doing in 1 or 2. The graphics are an amazing technical feat in the 3rd and are a huge improvement compared to the first 2 obviously. The voice acting is good and the musical scores are solid throughout all three as always.
3 was too short though and that was upsetting but the awesome boss battles made up for it in my opinion. The puzzles are lame in 3. I felt that the puzzle solving got lazier and lazier after the first game. Not saying the puzzles in 1 were hard but you had to think a little more then 2 or 3's puzzles. Overall great games. Great trilogy. Definately a must have in the collection.
