Pity for those of us that don't live in North America, we won't be getting those games on Steam. Most Ubisoft games I want I've already got, but having R6-3 and Vegas 2 would be nice...

There is a Steam Community that tries to persuade publishers to make the games available to the whole world. You can join it to show your support, it's sort of like a petition. But there don't seem to be too many people that are willing to do something about it.

That is because such an effort is fruitless. They don't withold the games from non-US users out of some choice model. Different countries have different distribution deals. Ubisoft has one deal for the US that lets them offer certain titles for distribution by Steam. Their distribution deal for other countries is wholy different and until it expires or is renegotiated it likely is what is preventing those games from being offered by Steam. Likely there are titles certain European Steam users see that US ones do not in a reverse.

ubisoft issue, i think. they seem to think that's a good strategic move on their part, for whatever reason.

I'm sure it has something to do with that. But you must let them know that you want them to change that or they might not bother to make it available to the rest of the world.

I hope they put Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood on it soon, since a Steam version wouldn't have Starforce.

is that a stand-alone expansion? cuz i already have bia: rth30 that i bought retail. i don't want to get the steam version of bia: eib if it'll require the original game.

It's not an expansion at all, as far as I know; it's considered a sequel.

Erm, that's not true at all, it's completely Ubisoft's call. Valve has already confirmed this. Steam is worldwide, it's totally up to the publishers to decide whether they want to lock up certain regions. There's only one reason why Ubisoft and Atari are doing this - they don't want Euro gamers to pay cheapo American prices.

Also, community efforts are not fruitless. The community forced Ubisoft to drop StarForce and EA to scale back their draconian SecuROM crap. Just a couple notable examples.

WDT-BlackKat

it never hurts to try.

And Ubisoft already mentioned that their reason for excluding the rest of the world was purely financial.
