I've read up and i'm still a little confused. I'm either getting the Creative Aurvana Live headphones or the JVC HA-RX700's - the Creatives are £20 more though so i'm unsure if its worth the extra (I wont be using a sound card so not sure if i'm looking at the wrong kind of headphones) - but will it be easy/cheap to make these play audio through a ps3 (games/netflix/crunchyroll)? Will there be a simple way to extend the wires if they aren't long enough or should I just get a Triton headset for £50 instead?  Problem is, with the triton worried about the audio quality here though and I don't need a mic+ the Creatives look sort of ugly and I only have vague reassurance they're better than the JVC's.

Thank you.

£1.40 for a 5m extension cable:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/FPUK-metre-3-5mm-Headphone-EXTENSION/dp/B001D2WHEQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379266954&sr=8-1&keywords=headphone+cable+extension

How are you planning on using them with the PS3? You could just plug them into the TV - most TVs have a headphone socket. Or you could use the analogue audio cables that the PS3 comes with and a couple of cheap adapters.

Ah simple enough then! I tried using my current headphones with the tv to get audio but it didn't work, even when I messed with the settings. I suppose that was just me doing things wrong and there will be an easy fix to that, thank you. Im not quite sure what specific adapters i'll need though.

Use the PS3 audio out with the red and white plugs.

Plug them into this adapter:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cables-To-Go-Stereo-Adapter/dp/B002DWAXR8/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1379271707&sr=8-3&keywords=stereo+rca+female+to+3.5mm

Plug the adapter into the adapter and your headphone go in to it too:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/PC-Arena-Coupler-Adaptor-Connector/dp/B003O3QPRW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379271722&sr=8-1&keywords=3.5mm+female+to+female+adapter

(you don't have to buy those exact ones but it shows you what you'd need)

ah, thanks. now to decide on the headphones. People are saying the RX700s don't function great without a soundcard, deciding on headphones is so confusing!

I would have advised getting an SU-DH1, Ear Force DSS or Mixamp, connecting your PS3 to it via S/PDIF, then plugging your headphones into it. That way, you can use any headphones you want while reaping the benefits of Dolby Headphone.
