Hello,

-Looking for 46" LCD/LED TV
-Budget up to £830/$1300/1000€
-TV will be used for watching SD and Blu-Ray
-Would prefer a 3D one , SONY or SAMSUNG
-Dont care about InternetTV, SmartTV and such

1) After looking on a lot of reviews most of them say SAMSUNG is better
but have had perfect experience with SONY

2) What specs should I look for? I know about constrast and response time but have heard about DNLA and other stuff

Any specific TV reccomendations? or brand reccomendations?

Looking forward to the replies

Take a look at the Panasonic GT30 plasma (or if you want to save a little money, the ST30). Best picture quality and 3D in / around that price range.

I agree, though I've got to say that the Samsung plasmas might be superior. ST30 has buzzing issues. Another positive with plasma, from my experience, is that they tend to upscale SD images much better.

Random question, Do the Panny plasmas buzz at higher elevations (9000ft+) like previous plasmas, or did they resolve that problem? I may be in the market for a similar TV later this summer.

I would really recommend going to a store and looking at them in person. It's ok to buy online if you can get a good price but I think for something like a TV you really need to see the picture in person, reviews can be very subjective.

Normally, stores like Sears will have a sports channel hooked up to them and the picture is really iffy. TC, have them pop in a blu-ray movie or something. They will do it unless that person is a crappy customer service rep.

Also try to calibrate the sets a little. The showroom floor normally has every TV set to "Scorch mode" because people attribute brightness with better in the store.

I know the st30 series has buzzing issues, I own one. It is louder than one would like.

I don't know that much about TVs to help you out, but I do know how much they should go for.

A year ago, I got a 50'' Samsung 1080p, Plasma, 3DTV, with 2 active 3d glasses for 796 shipped, no taxes.

If you check out www.slickdeals.net, sign up and get notifications for TV deals

With patience (1-2 months of it at most), you'll score a better deal than mine.

HOLY JESUS CHRIST ON A BICYCLE, what a TV the ST50 is!

Review from HDTVtest..

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/panasonic-tx-p42st50b-p42st50-201203191731.htm

Peak black levels are as deep as 0.009 cd/m² ! Deeper than the VT30!

on an ANSI checkerboard (screen displaying peak whites and peak blacks at the same time) the ST50 hit 0.012cd/m². If I am not mistaken the VT30 was 0.013cd/m² ?

Apparently this TV has the deepest black levels since the Pioneer Kuro LX5090 (Pioneer Kuro KRP500-A not included obviously, which as a black level of 0.003cd/m² or something..)

Not only amazingly deep black levels, but colour and gamma both really good too.

What a TV guys, what a TV...
