I'll start (Since I made this thread and all that, y'know. So now you have no choice but to read mine first! Mwahaha!) I love Post-Rock, Prog Rock, Prog Metal, Death Metal, Power Metal, Folk Metal, Art Rock, Classical, Jazz, Electronica, Folk and old Pop music. I could list bands, but that'd take to long, so I'll just tell you that my favorite band is Tool.

I like electronica, rock, and metal, with a huge preference for melodic death metal. A few melodeath bands I listen to regularly include Amorphis, Blood Stain Child, Mercenary, and Scar Symmetry.

Alot Of Variety. I can listen to most things, but at the top of my fav's list is defenitly Jazz of all sorts. Especially Big Band Swing (im a sucker for the classics).

I also like Rock of all sorts, various types of Metal (though im not the most avid fan of it, I still like to listen to it now and again), gamemusic, and alot more :P. I just dont like country, bollywood, or anything from mainstream Rap, hip hop, or R&B. and I hate Pop. *shudders*

I'm just gonna look at my "genres" list in iTunes and list every one.

Acapella, Acid Jazz, Alt. Rock, Ambient, Art Rock, Avant-Garde (both in rock, metal and general avant-garde music), Black Metal and its variants, Bluegrass, Blues, Chiptune, Classical, Country (including the likes of Alt. Country and such), Crust Punk, Dance, Darkwave, Deathgrind, Death Metal and it's variants, Disco, Doom Metal and its variants, Drone, Drum & Bass (not a big fan though, just one artist under it), Electronic music in all its forms such as Trance, House and so forth, Emo Punk, Experimental music in different styles (rock, electronica, etc), Folk, Free Improv, Garage Rock, Gothic Rock, Grindcore, Grunge, Hardcore Punk, Hip-Hop, Indie Rock, Industrial music (such as Rock and Electro-Industrial), Instrumental, J-Pop/Rock, Jazz, New Wave Rock/Pop, No-Wave, Noise music, Pop music, Post-Rock, Power Metal, Power Violence, Prog Rock/Metal, Psychedelia, Punk, Rap, all kinds of Rock music, Shoegaze, Stoner Rock/Metal, some Symphonic music, Synth Rock/Pop, Thrash Metal, Trip-Hop.

That's all that I've got listed, but I'm sure there are heaps of other styles in there.

I have almost no preference for genre. Instead, I'll get hooked on various sources of music. For a long time it was video-games, then it moved on to celtic music, then Canadian folk music, then music from Repo the Genetic Opera, and lately music from and inspired by My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic. If I had to pick a few favorite genres, however, I'd say Classical, Celtic, and Eurobeat. My least favorites would be Country, and Rap, but of course there are always exceptions *coughcoughmicthemicrophonezerocough*

The thing that bothers me most about dubstep is simply the predictability of it.

Inquisition

Suffocation (The best)

Esoteric

Darkspace

Urfaust

These bands sum up most of what I love about music.

Drum and bass with little to no dubstep mixed in(having to differentiate that annoys the f*ck out of me. *avoids going off on a tangent*), trance/house/techno, rock, metal, some classic rock, and the occasional top 40 hit.

I could go on about the various genres of music I do like but my favorite is Ryhthm & Blues. I don't care what anyone else thinks on this thread about that genre, I've always grown up on it since the 90s and it's changing and adapting greatly compared to other genres which have stalled creatively and have therefore failed to maintain popularity in today's contemporary world.

Everything but country and a lot of rap/hip hop. I enjoy bluegrass even though I hate country. I really don't like "angry" rap and a lot of the newer stuff that's basically just noise. Don't like a lot of techno/dubstep either but there's a few good songs out there.

I tend to hit more of the pop side. Specifically 80's, 90's and now. New wave/Post punk/revival of that. I do enjoy some classical music as well.

For the most part, metal. Specifically: Groove metal - Machine Head - Byzantine - Pantera - Sepultura - Fear Factory - Cavalera Conspiracy - Gojira - Lamb of God Death metal (just got into the genre) - Nile - Necrophagist - Death -- I only got into death metal a few days ago, but it swiftly becoming my preferred genre. Nile has an outstanding vocalist (who can throat sign like a Tibetan monk, something I am having limited success with) and some extremely creative non-metal elements integrated into their tracks. I can't believe that all of a year ago I was calling extreme types of metal with rough, guttural or otherwise non-smooth lyrics "un-musical." Shame on me.

Fear Factory's Soul of a New Machine album is death metal. You might like that album. I also recommend Morbid Angel, Autopsy, Atheist, Cynic(Focus album), Napalm Death(not the Scum album), Carcass(first 3 albums), Crackdust, Bolt Thrower, Suffocation, Gorguts, Decapitated, Cryptopsy(first 3 albums), Septic Flesh, Beneath The Massacre, Behemoth, Zyklon, and Trepalium.

weird coincedence. I just got into death metal too! I've been listening to necrophagist like a freaking crazy man. OMG they kick ass to put it lightly. I feel like their music is exactly what I've been looking for. Just a chaotic orgee of constant awsomeness. I'll check out the other bands too.

If you guys like Necrophagist, you should check out Suffocation as well. Also technical death metal, but Suffocation are true pioneers of brutal/technical death metal, and their first three albums are practically unmatched. Necrophagist is really popular among newcomers to the genre but there are a lot of other bands that have so much more to offer (and focus more on the music and not the ever-so-popular guitar noodling).

Progressive/technical metal. Mostly death metal. Can't really get into brutal/grind unless they're tech/prog, mostly because they aren't really interesting otherwise. EBM, IDM, progressive electronic. Industrial. Jazz, mostly fusion. Zeuhl. Classic rock. Video game soundtracks.

isn't guitar noodling music ? Anyway I'm a little freaked out by the genre. I feel like me listening to it might be a sign that I'm going insane or something. I mean "oh ya the music I listen to is about eating corpses" is not something I expected to ever say.
