I grew up in an non religious family but we do believe in God in our own ways, but never really go to Church and such. I visited my cousin's Christian church when I was 28 when I was spending the night. They made me sing and I felt extremely uncomfortable.

But in any case, just wanted to see if any OT attends Church and if so, which types of churches have you been to before?

I used to be Roman Catholic, but not the chest banging Catholic, actually I was a pretty bad one, I seldomly attended mass ( only like when one of my relatives died and such ), last time I did a confession was before I married ( 19 years ago ).

I only grew up with the whole St. Nicholas thing presenting Christmas gifts, I hardly know anything about Rebirth of Jesus Christ.

I call it the Temple of Meat. The Brazilians call it Rodizio. Here in Winnipeg it is called Carnaval.

I don't worship nearly as often as I'd like.

Hardcore Calvinist. It was actually my pastor who got me into games when I was a kid. He introduced me to Age of Empires back in the day when I was a kid.

I haven't been in a church in 30 years. The last time I went to church I was a little kid. My neighbor talked me into going to his church. I was young and had no clue to some of the things they were talking about. One of the topics was sin. The pastor asked everyone who has sinned to raise their hand. I wouldn't raise mine. My neighbor kept nudging me and telling me to raise my hand. I was thinking I don't know what that is so I'm not raising my hand. We kinda got shunned the rest of the day. So yeah that was the last time I went.

I've been fortunate enough to have found a church that isn't too conservative. You don't need to dress up. You can wear hats (baseball caps for example) indoors during service. We don't acknowledge ourselves as a specific denomination. But do acknowledge the roots of different christian sects where certain beliefs originated from. I don't always agree with what is being spoken like anywhere else in the world.

That being said, there are spaces where these topics can be discussed. Without some church leader using their position to dominate the conversation. Something the last church I went to struggled with on a severe level. Among other things like being very conservative over the pettiest of things.

A very unfortunate experience indeed. Seems like a very conservative church that hasn't evolved with the times, and has become complacent.

I was raised in a couple of different churches, Methodist in the end. However, I stopped believing in Christianity and God altogether. My parents are still believers, but they stopped attending the last church we went to because the church was saying things they didn't like. Thankfully, I never had to explain to my parents that I no longer believe and I have no expectation to ever go to church. Church was so boring for me, especially as a kid. I do not miss it.

Well, I rarely go to church even when I was young. Last time, I did attend a church in Manaoag (a place in the Philippines). It was a bit far or a bit near from the place where I previously lived.

I am a Christian as well and attend a church like yours where the dress code is casual, jeans, hats etc (similar to like Hillsong Church or Elevation Church if you are familar with those). I prefer non denominational churches just because of the atmosphere. But I have a growing concern that some churches now are becoming to worldly and allowing outside sources influence the church and God's teachings. There are some churches now that making compromises so that atheist, LGBT, liberal extremist and such don't get offended or start calling them bigots, judgmental, etc. I am not condoning hate or intolerance, but at the same time you can't water down the gospel to avoid hurting feelings if you are serious about your faith you know? So I always wonder about the intent when people say the church needs to evolve.

@iron_legion87: Much that could be discussed for sure. By evolve, I mainly refer to man made rules that are disenfranchising today's youth. Asides from being aware of daily trends to keep the church relevant in today's social challenges.

To elaborate on evolve, I spoke to a girl at my job. Who isn't interested in church. No thanks to her mom's church, that made her wear a skirt in the freezing cold. From personal experience. My sister drew a superman logo barely the size of a golf ball in length. A pastor gave me the ultimatum. To remove it, or I wouldn't be allowed in church. Wearing hats indoors is also another issue. Petty things like these are a poor attempt to clean the outside of the cup. And make people legitimately interest in Jesus walk away. Which in the long run, will doom the church to the problems of an aging congregation. Hosting an irrelevant social club.

Ah I see where you are coming from and I agree. Churches that are strict about dress code and things like that should evolve with the times. I also have no problems with churches doing things out of the norm as long as it is Christ centered. For example, recently did a Grinch play for Christmas and but added Christian themes in with the normal Grinch story. Some people actually had a problem with that and bashed the church saying it wasn't Christian and too worldly. But the goal was always to reach out to non Christians but not beat them over the head with the message. But recently, the pastor at the NYC Hillsong Church did an interview with Oprah where he said basically implied that you don't need Jesus to get into Heaven. He said that, mostly to not offend liberals, atheist etc. That kind of thinking is what concerns me.

I was raised christian by shool, my parents never went to church though, apart from marriage funeral, communion, baptism. My grandparents went every sunday, going to church is pretty much a dying thing here in europe, I remember we used one church for a rave party back in the nineties.

Of course we have a lot of immigrants that go to the mosks.

I don't think religion, mosk/church going is a bad thing, but it needs to be translated to our era. Maybe if they would make it less boring, people would attend more

Never go to church. My aunt used to bring me and my cousins and when it was time to get up and get the bread everyone would go besides me because I wasn’t badtized(sp?). Sons of biches.

I believe in god.

Zen Buddhist temple if that counts. I was raised protestant Christian, heck my private school was Christian, but never believed in the notion of a religious god. I completely shun away from religion when I was 17. Instead, for me it's all about spirituality. Since then, it has made me into such an amazing human being.

I used to judge people who were different from me, religions especially. Now, my heart has no judgment. I love everyone equally, and not that type of hypocritical love "oh but, if you don't repent". I mean I truly don't care what you believe in, you're the same for me.
