So the eclipse was supposed to start partially around five minutes ago, but I haven't seen much yet. Supposedly it will being in earnest around 10:00 EST, so I will be watching. Anyone else interested in seeing this?

I have actually got a clear sky tonight, so I should be able to see it pretty clearly. First time in quite a while I will be able see one fully.

I'm watching it. People used to think it's the end of the world, etc. But it's really just light refraction.

I know a solor eclipse happens because the earth gets in the way of light on the way to the moon, like they all line up, but what causes the redish color?

They are not completly aligned yet, it will probably be completly aligned around 10PM

its pretty close to blocked out right now, i have a good view :) things like this are so minor to just look at but when you think about it on a cosmic scale, and then realize how large an area this covers it is amazing. then you think about what a tiny speck this relatively (to us) massive event really is, and you cant help but boggle

so when am i gonna see red? in a couple minutes it should be full and no red yet. and when its full do i not look directly at it or something?

EDIT:now that i turned the lights off in the room im watching from i can actually kinda see it starting to turn red:o

I knew that, I just want to know if its the moon blocking the sun or the sun bloocking the moon or whatever.
