Conservatives have mainly due to their social dogmas, organized religion that nearly mirroried the Middle East if not thanks in part to Secularist extremeist gaining influence via Hollywood.

The topic title is accurate but the opening post is not. People clinging to their "team" and their "side" is what has hurt America as they are unwilling to cooperate for the betterment of the nation as a whole. At least that is what I'd say is the main reason at the moment. The ever shrinking number of corporations who control media certainly hasn't helped. Perhaps the largest thing in contributing to the "ruin" of America is that people overestimate how things were in the past as in many ways thing are much better off now than before but we don't think they are because we'd rather look at the past with rose tinted glasses. I would say i would prefer it to the european multi party sytem.

I would however prefer a conservative party that isn't the GoP.
