Do they piss you off going so slow and you being stuck behind them? Should they pay a road tax to ride in the street?

better than those fvcking middle schoolers walking in the middle of the road. they piss me off to no end.
I like them more than the cyclists on the footpath.SolidSnake35Why? What issues are you having with cyclist on trails? I am being serious when I ask this too. I am getting a mountain bike soon (29" wheels) and plan on riding a lot and trails are going to be a big part of that and I would like to have as little issues as possible while riding on trails that people walk. Or are you mainly talking about riders that don't even follow the basic trail rules? I have been reading about what to do and how to ride while on these types of trails. I know that even if there are no signs saying so, that there are unwritten rules to follow.
Take your tags off your car and hit one at 5 mph and keep on going. They will learn to get out of the way. :P I kid, I kid
Or am I?
better than those fvcking middle schoolers walking in the middle of the road. they piss me off to no end.

I really do not mind bike riders in the road. They do need to follow the laws though. I know Newport News has signage denoting bike routes throughout the city similar to ones in Holland.
On that subject, cops need to actually enforce them. Running a red light with a bike is just as illegal as it is with a vehicle yet nobody ever seems to care when they do it.I really do not mind bike riders in the road. I hate how many of them feel they are not obligated to follow the same traffic laws as car drivers. Sorry bikers but every law motorists have to follow on the roads so do you. That includes signaling, waiting at stop lights, etc. ferrari2001Sometimes I wonder how many riders even know there are laws for cycling, much less that they're the same as in their car.
Sometimes I wonder how many riders even know there are laws for cycling, much less that they're the same as in their car. I doubt many of them are even remotely aware of it. It's mostly the police departments fault because they fail to enforce these laws. I'm sorry but a biker who fails to signal turns or runs a red light is putting himself and other drivers in just as much danger and needs to be held accountable. I just wish the police would stand up and start ticketing for these offenses then bikers will become aware.
I hate how many of them feel they are not obligated to follow the same traffic laws as car drivers. I have a hypothesis about police not ticketing people or not seeing law breakers and it has to do with them being in cars. If they got out of their cars and actually walked around for more than 2 minutes, they would see much more than they do sitting in their cars driving around.

Biking is healthy so I don't mind doing it myself or seeing other people do it. I don't mind seeing them on the road. I just slow down a bit and give them room. I live in a small town so it is not really a problem for me.
Why should cyclists pay an extra tax to use the road, do car owners even do this?

When I got my first bike with gears, way back in middle school, the guys from the bike shop gave me a manual for the rules of biking, and how when biking I needed to follow the rules of the road, since then I've always followed them.
I find in the city more people seem to follow the rules, because it's pretty hard to run red lights or stop signs when there are other people waiting to go perpendicular to your path. I do hate it when bikers bike on the sidwalk (unless that's the only option), it is really annoying.
When I was in undergrad I was amazed at how many people renting bikes from the school did not know that you had to obey laws like when driving a car, it was pretty annoying trying to tell them to obey the rules of the road and get ignored, too bad the cops didn't enforce the rules for bikers enough..

Whenever they drive on the f*cking road I wish my car had one of these

that's what bike lanes are for.
I have absolutely 0 interest in riding a bike to save gas. I am riding for my health.I feel that potentially risking my life isn't worth it to save a few gallons of gas than someone will use otherwise.

No....it isn't. Only a fool would expect a 7 year old to ride in the street. Bike lane or not, that is just plain ignorance. And if I was going to slap an age on it as to when you should have to ride in the streets, I would go with 14 years old.

You honestly expect little kids to ride their bikes in the street instead of on the sidewalk? :shock:AmazonTreeBoa

Riding up and down the sidewalk in front of your house is not alone. Also, you wouldn't get stopped here. The cops don't care, which I think is a good thing. I understand when you get older riding in the street, but not as a young kid. Even if I was with them, I still wouldn't want to put a 7 year old in the street. I am going to guess you are young and childless based off your comments. Please Log In to post.
