I am. And I know that jobs are hard to come by (At least here in the Tampa/St. Pete area) but I feel so useless. Anybody else having trouble securing a job?

Amazed, no. Envious, yes. Its the type of position i would quit if it were 5 years earlier... But the idea of job hunting now is daunting enough to keep me around :o[QUOTE="Witchsight"]Actually i am posting from work. Are you not amazed?Pirate700

I have never had a job before. Im 22 and my parents still give me money. Its quiet embarrassing, but jobs are so rare around here that nobody gives a job to a student. I so want to get a job and be independent, I applied to this cool internship, which is actually my first time being a professional environment. Im so excited.GazaAli22 and still getting money? I know ppl that stayed at the parents house while they paid of college debts or between jobs but yeah you need to get a job. the job market is getting better again. heck just get anything while you look. I hope you at least help out cleaning and other stuff around the house.
yeah I am but I will be getting a job for the summer at the moment with my studies I have no time for a part time job

But when I do get a job I will still help out on top of payment. Common courtesy :)

Well, did you go look for other jobs?I've been unemployed for two years. I've only had a few interviews in the last year, and the last one I went to was a group interview. There were 13 people, but only one open position. Quite lame. It seems like with any decent jobs, even low level ones, they all want experience. How does that work? If no one hired anyone without experience, then eventually you're not going to have any "qualified" candidates left for the position. We all have to start somewhere :P

How do you find a job with a 50% unemployment rate? Even the worst jobs would be impossible to land.
Never made sense to me either. A lot of low end jobs you either have to experience or have "hook-ups"/inside sources.I've been unemployed for two years. My boss received over 150 resumes for the job I landed in January. When former senior VPs are applying for entry level positions, you know times are tough. I had to go down a number of pay scales (was looking for a senior position too), but I'm happy with what I got.I've been unemployed for two years. Yep. I am as useless as one can get. But, hopefully something will turn up in the next few weeks. I hate sitting at home doing nothing but looking for employment.clayron

-I bet some people would pay good money...I mean, not that I would or anything...that is just what I hear...yeah, that's it

I have a friend who is an assistant manager of a Best Buy in the northwest Dallas area and he basically told me that's the only way to get a job there. Too bad he isn't national staffing manager otherwise I'd have a job right now :)I've been unemployed for two years. BestBuy is the worst about that, at least in my area. Don't even get me started about Best Buy. I applied there several times without so much as a phone call back from them, so one day I cornered someone in the store to see if I had even passed the evaluation portion. After a few moments they returned and said I had passed, but they were putting my application aside because I did not have "full availability". My schedule only permitted me from working 9-1 MWF. Mind you, this was for a part time cashier position.I've been unemployed for two years. I've only had a few interviews in the last year, and the last one I went to was a group interview.
