Nintendo releasing some kind of expansion/memory stick. Games like Guitar Hero: On Tour and the Drawn to Life/Spore series aren't utilized fully due to the game card's space. Like consoles before it, a memory stick could sharpen graphics, allow for longer game length, and more sound clips. Do you think it's plausible?

I can see where your going with this, because usually more memory = good. But I dont see any of my games to be lacking anything.

TC, you do realize that the game cards on the DS are also a form of rewrittable flash memory, which means the game is saved right onto the flash memory portion of the game card, thus eliminating the need of a secondary memory card/stick for the system?

I dont know much but I do see a big difference in DS graphics vs. PSP graphics but thats why you pay $125 more for a PSP. And the limitations will not be solved mabey the next handheld system Nintendo relases will be less limited or use a memory card or something I guess we just have to wait and see. PS it seems like I'm more of a PSP fan but I'm not DS all the way!!!!!!!!!

I don't think you really know how it all works. The DS game cards have variable memory sizes, and I don't know why you're bringing memory sticks into this. Now, Slot 2 could be used as a memory expansion, similar to how Guitar Hero's control addition or the rumble pack, but DS games can't be read off of Slot 2, only GBA games. Again, I don't know what memory sticks have to do with anything.

Again, I don't know what memory sticks have to do with anything.MAILER_DAEMON

they dont. this OP must've confused himself about something..

the primary purpose of a secondary memory slot is for save functions, and other features not related to direct gameplay (i.e. mp3's, videos, data storage, etc.). none of the sony consoles have a rewritable disc system (of course everyone knows this) so it necessitates memory expanison in order to utilize a save function, but a secondary slot does not serve the purpose of graphic/memory enchancement for videogame titles, and i cannot recall very many games that use the memory stick slot to lengthen gameplay and enhance visuals/audio, save some DLC, which isn't really all too often. the DS has DLC available ..

now, what i think the OP meant was limitations due the memory capacity in a ds cart. i can understand the why someone would think that gameplay and features could be limited due to the limited amount of space on a cartridge. but then again, we've seen SDHC cards that go up to 8GB, and usb flash memory go to 32 and above, so i don't see why the size of the cart would necessarily limit a game's gameplay, because they seem to be able to expand memory size on carts without a problem.

but that still has nothing to do with a secondary slot, available RAM, processor, and graphics card. that's all hardware issues, not software.

Nah, it won't be solved by adding more memory. Alot of games produced for the DS don't even use 128mbytes carts. I think it's costs that actually limits the amount of animation/length/music clips. Will it be worth the money to produce so much of them for a DS game? As for sharper graphics, it's probably limited by the amount of processing the two processors on the DS can do, nothing can fix that except a DS revision with more powerful processors bulit in..or by buying a PSP :P

Dosen't seem like too much of a problem.

They get around things.

And unless I'm mistaken, GHOT Decades will let you trade setlists so that you have around 50 songs.

Alright sorry I asked. I was thinking of something similar to the N64 expansion pack but I guess that's not really necessary for most DS games.

It's not necessary, really -- most developers aren't even maxing out space on the cards they've got. Certain games definitely lend themsevles to greater space allowances and it certainly would be possible (that stupid Opera browser proved that much, at least) but until developers start filling up the large DS carts and then start asking for more space, I don't think we'll be seeing anything like this any time soon.

They could probably use the GBA slot if they need a bit more technical "oomph"

Think about the Nintendo DS Browser: it uses a memory expansion to display the sites correctly. However, I don't really see devs getting the 100% out of the system. ~ de arimasu
