Whats the best game you still hate? A game who's greatness you wont argue and yet, for some reason, you still despise it.
I wont argue that Half Life 2 is a great game, but I still can not stand it.

The Orange Box. It's spectacular, but I'll NEVER touch the damned thing.Shadowscale18
i don't have that game (heck, i don't even have a 360), but do you have a particular reason why you won't touch it. it's funny how you say it's spectacular but you... never touch it? actually i'm confused by this topic, are we supposed to name games we know is good, other people like it, but we personally dislike the game? or do we name games we like... but hate? okay, that doesn't make sense.
but anyway... if we're talking about good games accepted by many but somehow it didn't click personally, i have to say god of war, hands down. i don't get the hype, i think it's DMC/NG for kids with a 'mashbuttons-defend-mash' combat peppered with QTE (which is probably the laziest thing a designer could ever do as an excuse to spruce up the combat). to see it getting awards was painful.

He's probably one of those guys who opposes the inclusion of Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 in the package.
Resident evil 4 and Final Fantasy 12. They disappoitned me big time... followed by metal gear solid 3.
And Capcom should watch out for naughty dog's uncharted because RE5 stands no chance if it plays the same as RE4!

We are talking about games that you know are good, and yet still dont like.
I mean there are things I could nit pick on for half life 2 but its really picky stuff that annoys me and if a HL2 fan gave me all the reasons they love the game I would probably agree with them on the games merits. But I still just cant stand the game anymore, and gordon freeman gets on my nerves.
I absolutely hate the Civ series.Iron_will
I have not played Civ4 yet but I was really annoyed with civ 3.
I spent my nations resources becoming the first country to have Nuclear weapons. Nobody else had them. So I figured I had some power to play around with. I could get away with a small invasion becouse who would attack me?
Well it did not deter anyone. So I fired one off and took out a capital city, the entire planet decalred war on me. By the time it was over I had fired off some 16 or so nukes and the conventional warfare was all over.......

Funny uou should mention uncharted.
Uncharted for the ps3 is deffinatly what I would consider a quality, well made game. And while I dont hate it, it did leave me totally uninspired. Deffinatly a game I think is a really good game and yetI stilldont like it personaly.
Bioshock - It was fun but the "revolutionary gameplay" wasn't that revolutionary and the characters in the game were terrible.
Gears of war - I can't stand the lack of any tactics. My brother in law loves this game but then again hes 12 just like 90% of the people we play against online. I play it when I'm at his house but would never play it otherwise.
I'm with the above poster on Goldeney. Critically acclamimed. High scores. My friends liked it, but it just seemd blah to me. After playing Half Life, maybe my standards were too high.sonicareQFT
Final Fantasy VII. I understand that it was the first JRPG to hit the U.S., and I understand it was a revolutionary title, and I tried so hard to like it. But once you get past that first city, it's just boring and overly difficult. There was some kind of mini-game that was especially bad where you have to defend a lighthouse using these different types of troops, and they all had different stats and abilities. It was complicated and I didn't feel like learning a whole new game just to advance, and I had to fight monsters for 5 hours just to get enough money to play it. It was extremely dissapointing.Bulldog19892Although I do agree with you that ff7 is way overhyped it wasn't the first jrpg to hit the west
Yea I don't know what it is. Its hailed as one of the best games of all time, everyone raves about it, I had fun in Ravenholm, but I just can't stand the Half Life series.Whats the best game you still hate? A game who's greatness you wont argue and yet, for some reason, you still despise it.

Ok, I could not get into the Hitman series. I am a fan of the stealth genre, and a lot of the things that I say my little brother do in the game are so crazy, but once I play it, I hate the game, I just can't seem to get it to work. Same with GTA series, love watching my little bro play, I hate playing it. Maybe I am just not creative enough or something to play these series.
I also hate Halo with a passion. I enjoy the multiplayer some, but I think that what ruined it for me is I hear all these people praising it, and its a fine shooter, but is not the best of the be all of be all of shooters like everyone says. I particularly find Master Chief as one of the most stupid characters with one of the most stupid names ever.
And this is a game I love, is Rule of Rose, but I hate playing it because is so broken! I love the story, but I had to force myself into finishing it because I hate the game play itself.
Oblivion! It has so much going for it, has so much potential, but it lacksvariety, or any reason to care about anything in the game world whatsoever. THE WORLD IS BEING INFESTED BY ZOMBIES...btw, feel free to loot the whole province, collect some plants, and watch a few guards get absolutey slaughtered like the idiots they are. It just could have gone so much farther by changing fairly simple things.
Oh and, making you do the exact same task 5+ times (with the same sub-plot) in a row that you've probably already done a couple tons for giggles should set off the boredeom alarms :(
I just want to be able to fail!!!

Yes. :D
ThoughI didn't hate Oblivion.
Ocarina of Time, and i think my answer rings most true because it is often hailed as one of the best games ever, getting a rare (but definetly undeserved) perfect 10 on this very site.
I really dont understand what makes it so great, and i am, in general, a Zelda fan. I compare its predecesor Link To the Past and, especially today, it's a no contest. I think i may have picked it up about 2 years after it came out and it already felt stale and unplayable, whereas Link To The Past still feels good to revisit and very accesible.
Final Fantasy 7 comes in a close second, but i was able to play and enjoy it back when it came out to a relative degree, I only began to hate it once people consistently used it as their shining example for modern day RPG perfection. One of the many sources of my ire about it can be quoted in this very thread:
Final Fantasy VII. I understand that it was the first JRPG to hit the U.S......... Bulldog19892
I rest my case.......

Yeah...man I was so bored after a few hours...
Ninja Gaiden (Black) was a great game, but the much too high difficulty killed the whole game for me.

I didnt reeally like Bioshock, which was a dissipointment to me since i was really excited for it.
I didnt like Orange box either, half life didnt seems like a great game, portal was unique but got old, and team fortress was just to crazy to figure out any strategy to.
MARVEL ULTIMATE ALLIANCE, Although it went platinum and has relatively good reviews I HATE THE DAMN GAME.
Also lets not forget
-Bioshock (Waaaaaaaaaaay overrated)
-Half Life 2: Episode 1 (The gravity gun got boring, where are the real weapons ? I think Im gonna sell my "Orange Box" even though I still didn't get tired of Portal. Wish there was a download of the game for my xbox or somthing.
-Ace Combat 6 (gave me a headache)
