Like NBA 2K and Madden? Of course, there are a few exceptions like tennis and boxing, which come out every 2 or 3 years. Yes, I do hate that I have to get a new version every year to "keep it up to date."

Not really. We all know it's a money making opportunity. I enjoy FIFA and I buy it every year, but I usually trade the old one away for it.
When people complain that they're not fun and it's better to go and play the game for real, they're missing the point. I can't go down the park and have a kickabout with Ronaldo and Messi. I can't go down the park and have skills as good as Ronaldinho. I can on a video game.
I only buy sports games the year my favorite team does good or when there is a new gameplay mechanic.
You shouldn't hate that sports games are released annually, you should just hate that they don't evolve. Since the changes to actual gameplay are pretty small from year to year, I'd rather they just sold a yearly $20.00 roster update that includes a patch to fix what people were complaining about (Games like NBA2KXX can keep doing free roster updated during the season).
Yes sports games are coming after every 2 years..And racing game after every 1 year bcoz Nfs releases 2 to 3 parts every year and their standards are not so good..Are you agree with me??
The games are evolving enough for them to be worth a buy to me every 3 years or so. I have nothing against annual sports games because the market actually demands them. If both EA and 2k games both somehow skip a year, you can be certain that someone else will jump in, fill in the void and get the millions of sales.
This. I don't hate that sports games come out every year. I hate that the SAME sports games come out every year. You shouldn't hate that sports games are released annually, you should just hate that they don't evolve. They should make a single game for each sport that updates via downloads etc instead of coming out with a completely new game EVERY year. I still think Madden 2005 is the best football game made for a console and madden 2009 is a million times better than madden 2010.
Bottom Line: new sports games every year are a real pain.
I don't hate the fact that they're released every year.
I just hate that they charge you $60 every year for a slightly updated product.
In response, I just hang back a year so I can get a new NCAA Football for $20 or less.
Example: I upgraded from NCAA Football 10 to NCAA Football 11 for $20 on Amazon last month.
I buy them every other year, unless the new one has a really good feature or all my friends are getting it.
I don't mind that theres a new game every year but I don't like it when the game is completely identical apart from a few roster changes, for example I felt there was a greater difference between FIFA 08 and FIFA 09 than I thought there was a difference between FIFA 09 and FIFA 10, for me FIFA 10 was basically Identical to FIFA 09 whereas I thought they greatly improved the control of players between FIFA 08 and 09.
To keep it up to date is actually a reason I love the yearly releases :P. But then again, the only sports games that I play (besides the odd racer) is wrestling games. If I didn't get the latest WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW off of Santa I would be sad :P. Also, a new WWE game, WWE All Stars recently came out, and I am getting that as well as (unannounced so far, but it's yearly) SmackDown! vs. RAW 2012, and a few months ago I only got WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2011 for Christmas. Not only that, but I have been wanting to get the Lucha Libre game, but I don't think it has been released here in the UK :(. If people enjoy them enough, they will buy them. If you're not too bothered about playing every entry, then that's fine :).Like NBA 2K and Madden? Of course, there are a few exceptions like tennis and boxing, which come out every 2 or 3 years. Yes, I do hate that I have to get a new version every year to "keep it up to date."

Considering I sell last year's copy every year to get the new one for cheap dirt, no, I don't hate sport games. PES is always awesome. :)
Before downloadable content was possible yearly releases were basically necessary in order to keep team rosters relevant. Nothing's going to be changed now though because of how much money can be made with yearly releases.
Overall I don't mind much. I'm a very casual sports game player and only loosely follow a few sports, so yearly releases don't affect me. Haven't had a new sports game since NHL 2001.
