The reason it reminds me of the launch of the first Far Cry, was because back then Far Cry brought a whole new kind of game to the industry.. a feeling of freedom. Now while the first Far Cry wasn't exactly free roaming, the massive size of the scenery, and the breathtaking graphics were enough to convince you that you could go anywhere.. fast forward a decade and Far Cry 3 is released.. a brilliant shooter with an open world environment, with a stunning cast of characters and a great storyline. The graphics show what there is left to draw from the systems' GPU, and the mechanics are next to perfect. This game will keep you entertained for awhile. I got it at midnight release, and beat it in a couple of days, logging between 20 and 30 hours on it. The only reason it didn't get a 10 out of ten, is the lack of interaction with "enemys" once you have liberated all of the outposts. The islands quickly become a ghost town afterward, and it makes it nearly impossible to get all of the trophies.
