My boomstick and a chainsaw. Nothing else required.

User Rating: 6.3 | Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick PS2
Evil Dead: A Fistful of Boomstick has you in the role of Ash. If you seen any of the Evil Dead movies. Which most have at least seen Army of Darkness will know who Ash is and his one liner this is my boomstick.

In the game you are Ash and your town is now becoming infested with Deadites. Now it is up to you to put things right.

Gameplay: The game is your standard third person shooter. Two buttons are used to have Ash to use whichever weapon he has equipped for his right and left hands. The triangle button when pressed will have Ash make a comment.

Overall in this game you just need your shotgun and the chainsaw. Ash can do alot of damage with the shotgun. Including the infamous shotgun on the shoulder firing back-wards move. The chainsaw has a three swipe combo and if you perform a specific button mash you will impale a Deadite and can either finish shredding it or use the shotgun to finish it off.

Graphics: Just above average and almost as cheesy as the Evil Dead movies. Not really a gory game but you will see some stuff that might not be appropriate for some age groups.

There are also some cut-scences that are marginally okay but they do help to set the mood for the game.

Sound: If you are in to the Evil Dead movies the comments Ash makes through-out the game will have you smiling. The story line also has it's moments and there are few times you wish you could pick how Ash replies.

Value: This is a rental game. It will take you a good 10 hours of play to finish it off. After that there is not much more to do. There is an arcade mode that has some challenges you can try and beat. But overall once you played story mode all the way through you will be hard pressed to keep playing this game.

Now if you are an Evil Dead fan and have the other Evil Dead games. This is a good one for your collection.

Tilt: I like shooter games and this is one that I really enjoyed playing. The game is short and fairly easy to play through. The monsters will attack but if you can get away and separate and take them out one at a time. Which by the way is not all that hard to do.

If you are not into the Evil Dead movies I would take a pass on this game. Not much for variety in this game even as a shooter. The weapons are very basic and even the attachments to Ash's right arm do not really offer that much for the game. I found myself more prone to use the shotgun and chainsaw since they inflicted the most damage.
