4 Years of waiting wasted?
After playing this game for about 24 hours total I can positively say: it sucks!!! As a true RPG fan I feel a bit let down by Bioware after enjoying their Mass Effect series. This game feels empty, generic in all aspects( some would say like MMORPG ), from silly quest like " gather this resource " or empty/repetitive dialog lines, to open space that has a sole purpose of being pretty. Combat mechanics is confusing at best; tactical view where you can't see further than 5ft away, ai combat tactics with no real options to choose, questionably useful skill tree ( fantasy RPG with NO healing spells from mages!?! ) and so on. The worst thing in the game are companions. Unlike DAO, where I used to enjoy the comments made by Alister, Morrigan, Stan, the very thing that made me feel like I was a member of a party made of 4 individuals ( not 3 drones totally controlled by the player ), DAI offers no variety in companions ( the only difference being the appearance ). Their stats are idiotic: Casandra, a pretty girl of some 120lbs has double the constitution of Iron Bull or Blackwall, Vivienne the Circle mage has 4 points of magic more than Varric the rouge. The maps are very unbalanced ( I had my first encounter with a dragon at lvl4 ), and have too much empty space. I love to explore every corner of the map, turn every stone, open every lock/chest, but in this game it feels like a jogging simulation with occasional fights and mini puzzles. I have no desire to finish the game at this moment.
