One of the best I've played.
Bad:
1. Story does lack a singular 'purpose' in the beginning. To me this is only a slight drawback as I play to enjoy the action/ playability of the game, not merely to conquer the 'villain'.
2. Compared to many games over the past few years, this one is played in a small world...in that you are mainly in 1 city. Again, only a small drawback as there is as much to do in this city as in most worlds...save the feeling of 'adventure'.
3. Social/ love life is not as robust as the first; the hint is always there, but it was never truly fleshed out; a shame as it wouldn't have taken much more.
4. Most of the 'undergrounds' or the inside of just about every house is the exact same layout...very annoying and confounding; the fix would have been easy.
5. Load times are relatively long.
Good:
1. I read the Gamespot review and I disagree about the enjoyability of the cast of characters. True the banter between Morrigan and Alistair will always be tough to top, on the whole this group offers more depth and your interactions with them (good and bad) have serious consequences for gameplay. If they would have fleshed out the social/ love life described above the game would have been phenomenal.
2. Despite being stuck in 1 city, there are tons of quests and I never once felt that I was doing any of them just to get the experience/ treasure, etc. A lot of fun and ultimately the non-linear nature of this game is what makes it so good.
3. Combat is fun and just the right amount of difficulty....it added to, rather than took away from the story (as opposed to say, Witcher 2).
4. The game is 1 of the longer ones out there and rarely a dull moment...in my opinion, its much better to have an enjoyable to world to immerse in for 50 hours in a non-linear fashion, than have a single purpose that takes 12 hours to complete.
Great game.
