DayZ, a perfect example of why Early Acces is a bad thing.

Is this game really relevant anymore that people are still getting hyped for the 2016 release(if this won't get pushed back again)? I like games with a permadeath system but this is an awful game.

The first release of DayZ was as a mod for Arma II, where it's popularity began. I actually liked what was playable back then. So I'll give the mod some slack. The mod had some features, but was plagued by hackers and campers who'd ruin the fun of any person who's curiosity led them to the big cities. Regardless, it was a mod so expectations for the quality were low.

Now with DayZ having it's standalone release let's see what the amazing content is!

And here's the issue. The standalone is even buggier than the mod, with a lot less content. And seeing how long this game has been in development, I'm surprised this little has been added to the game.

When I played the game, everything was empty, servers didn't work, the basic game mechanics broke on me and items were few. I get that this is an early acces game, but this really doesn't set a good tone for the full release. And seeing what the final release holds, isn't much more than what the mod had.

So I imagine by the time the full version gets released nobody'll be playing this game anymore since they either got their fill from the mod or got pushed away by the early acces version. And the developers probably don't care, they made all the money they could selling this worthless piece of software.

Since I'm forced to give it a score I'd just say that even though the final product might be better, and the mod is everything you could have hoped for, the game as it is now is not worth your money and is best spend on another game with a permadeath survival system(for instance minecraft, terraria etc.)
