This is my personal favorite of the Crash games. It has a warp room like the third and fourth games, which makes it quite easy to move between different stages (except for the ones in the secret warp room. It has gems and stuff to find, and they are a heck of a lot easier to get than they were in the first game. It also has nice bosses, not too easy or too hard. Of course, since it's only the second game, it doesn't have a Time Trial mode, but from my point of view, that's a plus, not a minus. This game has diverse enough scenery to provide a fresh new experience with every new stage, without overdoing it like, say, the fourth game (which has different background music for every stage, even when they have the same theme). The biggest problem I have with it is finding the gems; most of the white gems were hard enough to get, but had I not asked a friend how to get the blue and purple ones (and the white one in stage 15), I may never have found them. I wish the developers wouldn't make the gems obtainable in such random ways; that's one thing Crash 3 and 4 definitely have over this one. I also don't think 27 regular stages and 5 bosses is nearly enough (after all, Donkey Kong Country 3 had 40 stages, not counting the bosses, and Super Mario Bros. 3 had a whopping 85!). The fact that I'm rating it a 9.0 rather than a 10 reflects mainly on the whole random gem thing, with one or two decimal points set aside for its short length. Still, if you're the platforming type, you HAVE to get this game.
