I don't know if your character had a name in this title. What you do, basically, is lie in wait at the bottom of the screen and strafe the rows of bugs that are coming at you. It is also worth points to demolish as much as possible of the mushrooms that litter your garden, though this will leave you more vulnerable to attack. Spiders bounce up and down, leaving more obstacles behind, and you can knock them off for hundreds of points each.
With each level, the enemies got faster and more difficult to pin down. Your craft could move just a little up and down within a small field at the bottom of the screen.
Centipede managed to make a challenging game out of a very simple idea. It's still popular in arcades today.
