First of all i'd like to say that this most likely is the second game i've completed "fast". Since i'm still pretty weak against gloomy and eerie environments I admit I had a hard time playing this game sometimes but, when I did manage to sit for more than three hours and just play without feeling scared and uncomfortable, the game was really good!

Now then, shall we begin?

Story: The nameless protagonist is on his way home when his plane suddenly experiences some mechanical failure and crashes into the sea. After blacking out for a while he finds himself under water, watching the pieces of the plane sink to the bottom of the sea. He managed to reach the surface and discovers that he is out in the middle of nowhere, but still manages to set foot on solid ground as there is a watchtower nearby.

He enters the tower and finds a round shuttle that he enters and he suddenly starts to descend. He then finds himself looking at an city and unfortunately has no choice but to enter it. Once the shuttle has taken him to an unknown room, a man by the name Atlas contacts him and offers to help for the small favour of being helped in return. The protagonist agrees and thus departs on his new adventure of escaping Rapture!

I liked the story, and it became even better with time. I can't however say more than this, because it would be a major spoiler.

Gameplay: At first I really liked the gameplay. It was easy to handle weapons, you easily navigated through the map, although it could be a little confusing sometimes as it had a slightly different structure. But something that actually began to bother me further in to the game was the big detours. Don't get me wrong detours can be really good and all and really make the game seem longer, but I somehow found the detours in this one to be slightly annoying. Sure you obviously don't want to walk in a straight line, but you don't want to turn around and walk all the way back either just to find another way or to look for something. One experience that I had was that I needed to get passed a door that was locked. In order to get passed it I had to find something. So once I found it, it ended up not being complete so I had to find all the missing pieces to complete it. Those are the kinds of detours that can really annoy me. And luckily that's the only thing I didn't like about the game.

Enemies/Monsters: There hare 4 different enemies in this game, however I can only mention three of them as the fourth one would be the biggest spoiler and would ruin the gameplay.

The first one is Andrew Ryan, the creator of Rapture. He finds out the 'you' are trying to escape and wants you to stay for several reason. Can't go to much into detail, but he is the baddest guy of them all.

The other two are actually just plain monsters that you encounter throughout the game. The first one are the Splicers. The splicers are actually former citizens of Rapture, but they've all now gone mad so yeah.
The second one are actually also former Rapture citizens, but the more evolved kind. They are called 'Big Daddies' and serve to protect the 'Little Sisters' And you will have to defeat them, because the Little Sisters have ADAM, which are essential for you to buy upgrades.

Skills: The skills are purchasable as long has you have enough cash and ADAM. What I liked about Bioshock is the fact that you had many different Plasmids to choose from.
Plasmids are the games magic spells. They vary from firing fire, to setting out the target for turrets and security cameras. You can also upgrade of the plasmids and the option to collect them in various places exists to, but you can always buy them at the 'Gatherer's Garden' which looks like beverage slot machine.

Overall: A good game for being one of the very first shooters i've played. They really did a good job with this one!
