"World's dumbest game" Goat Simulator launching on April Fools' Day...of course

Coffee Stain Studios announces release date for humorous PC game.

Goat Simulator, described by its creators as the "world's dumbest game," will launch for PC on April 1, better known as April Fools' Day. Created by Sweden-based Coffee Stain Studios, Goat Simulator takes inspiration from classic skating games, but here you control a goat.

Instead of nailing tricks, you will "wreck stuff," the developer says. "Charging into a table and knocking it over yields points, and if you can manage to do it while doing a backflip first and a 360 afterwards, you'll score even more points."

Goat Simulator also includes Steam Workshop support, meaning players can make their own goats, missions, and levels. The game will make its public debut at the Coffee Stain Studios booth at the 2014 Game Developers Conference later this month.

You can preorder Goat Simulator today for $10. The game has no multiplayer and is in development only for Windows PC, not Mac or Linux.

I'm so glad they're making this game. I gotta get it. Besides, many games coming out now are too serious and too self righteous anyway. This game knows what it is. It's completely stupid, hilarious, and fun. And that's what games should be.

We thought about selling it for $5 actually, but in that case we wouldn't be able to add stuff like Steam Workshop (which is really costly to integrate for a small indie studio like us). I'd love to see people do in Goat Simulator the same stuff they do in Happy Wheels or Garry's Mod. Having a $10 price point allows us to invest more time and money in the development, which will make the game bigger and better in the end. If we released it for $1 and put minimal effort in the development from our side, we'd end up with a worse game and I think a lot of fans would be dissapointed.

With that said, no one should buy Goat Simulator at all to be honest, it's a stupid game about a goat.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Uh!!! If you' aren't expect any sale, then $1 should do wonder. When it's that cheap most people will buy it in a heart beat and they won't expect much so it's hard to disappoint them.

And since your studio is small there is a high change that you will earn a profit just by selling it with that price. Beside I don't think you should bother with a workshop, the entertainment value of the game seem rather low (I will be honest, the NPCs in you game look rather dead..., and gameplay is like maniac simulator) so you shouldn't expect it to be the second coming of minecraft.

With that said, you should do what you think is best, it's your own gamble after all.

I happily pre-ordered it for $10. Yes, maybe I should have bought a hula hoop as Armin suggests on the website, but I didn't.

It's simple, if you don't want to buy it, then don't. I don't know how many pre-orders they've gotten, but obviously it's enough that Coffee Stain has dumped more resources into it. If only 5 people had pre-ordered, I'm sure it would be nothing more than polished game jam.

Kudos to Armin Ibrisagic and Coffee Stain for giving us Goat Simulator,... Simply because we asked for it!!

I don't get why April's Fools Day is significant.

Sure the game is dumb but April Fools is about tricking people not acting dumb till mid day.

Ever tried putting a wuppy cushion in action? Actually tricky as hell unless there is a cover on the seat.

so will it have DLC so we get to have a variety of animals? Like shark simulator? Lion Simulator? cow simulator? frog Simulator. Ant simulator? Snake simulator? monkey simulator?

Well, all it needed was gameplay mechanics like The Sims. Which is just a human simulator.
