Wing Commander: Secret Ops Update

Origin has revealed some snippets of information about the pending release of Wing Commander: Secret Ops, including a slew of new screenshots. The first "episode" of the upcoming Origin game, including the Startup Kit, will be made available on a special Secret Ops site beginning August 27. Each week after that (for a total of seven weeks) additional episodes will also be posted.

A number of download options will be available:

Secret Ops Basic Startup Kit: The required startup kit consisting of the Secret Ops executable file, graphics, music, and episode 1 (four missions). Approximate size: 63MB

Secret Ops Speech Kit: An optional speech pack download (requires Basic Startup Kit) that includes in-flight comms and mission-briefing audio. Approximate size: 51MB

Secret Ops Full Startup Kit: The Basic Startup Kit and Speech Kit combined. Approximate size: 114MB

Each week thereafter episodes two through seven will be made available (every Thursday night), each at about a megabyte in length. According to Origin, these episodes will be available for a limited time only. The only thing required of interested gamers (besides download time) is a short registration form to filled out electronically in order to unlock the game engine.
