Watch Dogs 2 Free Demo Hits PS4, Coming to Xbox One Next Week

Play the full game for three hours.

Ubisoft has announced a free demo version of Watch Dogs 2.

Available now on PlayStation 4 and coming to Xbox One on January 24, the demo lets you play the full game for three hours. This includes access to all features, including co-op and multiplayer. The online elements require a membership to PlayStation Plus (PS4) or Xbox Live Gold (Xbox One).

There was no mention of a demo for Watch Dogs 2 on PC.

You can download the Watch Dogs 2 PS4 demo right here from the PlayStation Store's website. Note that the game is marked down to $40 right now on PS4, so that's nice if you decide to pick up the full game. The Xbox One demo will be available here starting on January 24.

A FAQ explains that progress from the trial carries forward to the full game.

Watch Dogs 2 launched in November 2016. First-day and first-week sales for the open-world game were lower than the first Watch Dogs and the game was discounted not long after launch.

Desperation. It's time that Ubisoft starts making great games, again. What happened to Splinter Cell? Blacklist was sick. Prince of Persia? Where's that? Rayman, BG&E?

We don't want games with forced SJW bulls***. We want to kick terrorist butt and save the kingdom.

Bought this game on a whim after I saw it at e3. Amazon had a flash sale for the preorder at 40% off, and it looked decent so I went with it. The game is absolutely awesome. It has seriously great stealth and puzzles/problem solving that make it stand out from other open world games. Not to mention it's in a beautiful, detailed city and has great multiplayer integration. I'd recommend everyone at least try this demo out.

Better than nothing, although I would still prefer a demo which I could replay anytime I wanted. I'd prefer not feeling like a dog on a leash (no pun intended).

nice. much rather a "demo" with a time limit so i can try it when i want. not just a free weekend (that i spend 1/3 of it just downloading)

granted you could do a lot in those free weekends, i just never partook in any.

still much prefer the old actual demo's, as i'd try/i tried way more when they were small files. first 3 hours; you're probably not doing too much in this anyway, so they miss showing off a lot of game elements this route.

So pretty much like accidental code exploit from before Xmas on Xbox one. Good move, actually playing the game is what convinced me to buy it and it wasn't even on my radar before then.

@zerofrust: Eh...the game is decent but I don't see the franchise having any further potential. R* is just far superior in designing their open-world games. GTAV is more than 3 years old (and it's not my favorite in the franchise) but it still drowns all recent Ubisoft's games.

Lol i didn't even mention GTAV, you are the one who brought it up. I was comparing it to the first iteration of the game. As far as open world game go GTA is on top, i'm not questioning that. But WD2 has its own identity now, you can't mistake it for GTA as far as gameplay go. The hacking gameplay (combined with the drones) is more fleshed out and doesn't feel like an afterthought like in WD1. Played this game up and down and i can definitely see some potential here. Hell, i was even wondering if it was really Ubisoft which made WD2 lol
