War Thunder beta nets 5 million players
Open beta for Gaijin Entertainment's free-to-play MMO reaches milestone year after launch.

More than 5 million gamers have played the open beta for Gaijin Entertainment's free-to-play World War II-set MMO combat game War Thunder on PC since launch in November 2012, the developer has announced.
This is up from 3 million announced at the end of July.
War Thunder is currently in open beta on PC and its player base "continues exponential growth," Gaijin Entertainment said in a statement. The game is also in development for Mac, Oculus Rift, iOS, and Android. It will be a PlayStation 4 launch title on November 15.
The PS4 version of War Thunder will be cross-compatible with PC, allowing users on both platforms to play alongside or against one another. In addition, Gaijin Entertainment is readying an expansion pack called Ground Forces that will add land-based combat to the game.
