Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt Gets Release Window At The Game Awards

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt, a battle royale set in the universe of the tabletop game, will launch in Spring 2022.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt swooped into The Game Awards with a new trailer and a launch window. Players can begin stalking their prey in Spring 2022.

Set in the same universe as the cult classic RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt is a new, vampire-centric take on the battle royale genre. The game will debut on PlayStation 5 and PC. The trailer shows off a variety of combat styles, with guns, swords, hand-to-hand melee, and more. Players can also wield supernatural powers to take down their opponents or, more graphically, turn them into a fine red mist. Stealth also seems to be a viable option, with the trailer showing a sneaky player approaching an unsuspecting enemy from behind.

It remains to be seen whether Bloodhunt will slake the thirst of series fans, who are eager for news on Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2. Announced in 2019, the long-awaited sequel was originally planned for a 2020 release date. But, after developer Hardsuit Labs was removed from the project, the launch was delayed indefinitely.

In its place, fans have received a series of visual novels, and now, a battle royale. Though it likely won't satisfy fans looking for a meaty RPG, Bloodhunt does seem to replicate the moody visual style and urban setting that Bloodlines was known for, with spooky graveyards, rain-slicked streets, and neon-drenched clubs.

The game is currently in early access, but we look forward to sinking our teeth into the full release next spring.

Ahhh, BR games. The industry's get-rich scheme when they're too lazy to design enemy AI.

@Chizaqui: Most of the BR games out there flop, pretty much only Epic, EA and the PUBG guys are making money and in all three of those cases the devs are putting in lots of hours. I'd argue AI in the vast majority of games is bad anyway.

I don’t know, maybe it’s fun, but a battle royale game is really not what I’m looking for when it comes to a V:tM game. Like … at all.

Battle Royale? Really?

I am sooooo beyond tired of those tbh but... I dunno.... Happy for those who still love that style of game, I guess?

I'm going to give this one a miss tbh because, like I said: I am just sick to the teeth of battle royales. Seriously, I've taken to cringing every time I hear/see those words anymore to the point that I honestly think that I'm beginning to develop borderline PTSD.

That being said, would never mock anyone for still enjoying them so am instead going to state: Yay for whoever's still interested in those. V:tM has made some great single player games over the years so, it'll probably be a fun change for BR fans from the normal set ups.

@dlist4ever: For each BR game that gets released, we get over 100 non-BR games. Maybe pay more attention to those other games?

@mcnichoj: Kind of a dumb take. I pass by a lot of dumpsters when traveling, but it's the ones that are actively on fire that people tend to pay the most attention to. Why not pay attention to the thousands of dumpsters that aren't on fire?

All the hype and promotion that BR games get because of the extreme success of a handful of them makes it kind of hard to not notice these when they're coming out. As such commenting on it is totally fair game.

@Akriel_Boulve: So let me get this straight, in your analogy you're comparing games you like to normal boring dumpsters? What top tier skills at making a point.

Also in what universe does this game have hype? They announced all kinds of bullshit at the VGA including a GrubHub promotion for a FFXIV emote. Bloodhunt was already out in a EA state and they actually shut down servers because their player numbers were drastically falling. It was originally supposed to be one of those games that just stayed out and patched things over time. No, they're desperate and are going for a "grand opening" re-launch with a slightly modified game.

But yeah if he's allowed to get PTSD from a handful of games that release in a genre every year, I get to have PTSD for reading the hundreds of generic posts about people having sensationalist meltdowns over Fortnite being popular, for kids, "bad" or how their favorite IP is ruined because a cosmetic skin was added to the V-buck shop.

@mcnichoj: Umm no, I'm not comparing "games I like to normal boring dumpsters" I'm comparing the 100's of "other games" that come out to normal dumpsters that I don't really care about. You stated that people shouldn't complain about BR games because they are scarce, and I disagreed because scarcity is irrelevant, hence my point about flaming dumpsters getting more attention than non-flaming dumpsters.

The point is not on this specific game, but on BR games in general as DList pointed out. People are tired of BR games in a large way and the hype is still about the top tier BR games, which almost single handedly keep the EGS afloat, but it still drives these games to development.

You're allowed to "have PTSD" about whatever you think is bad and that you're tired of. Literally no one is stopping you, but you want to stop others from cringing so hard they think they have PTSD, which is why you made the reply originally.

@Akriel_Boulve: I kind of don't pay attention to dumpsters in general, flaming or otherwise. I don't know, guess I just have better things to do in my life.

>People are tired of BR games
>BR games still get hyped by people
Pick one.

@mcnichoj: > People are tired of BR games

>BR games still get created and hyped by COMPANIES instead of producing worthwhile content.

Fixed that for you, and no I don't have to pick one, you're just reframing it to make it seem like my argument doesn't make sense, ie a strawman.

@Akriel_Boulve: Holy shit, what a discovery! Companies want people to play their games? Fun fact, Boss Key's second release Radical Heights was a BR that was more well received than their first game LawBreakers. Maybe some studios are just doomed to make games that don't catch the general public's eye regardless of the genre?

We'll even go back up to my first reply in this chain where I point out way more non-BR games get released than BR games, plenty of those non-BR games end up failing too.

Sorry if pointing out your logical fallacies supported with facts are somehow interpreted as a "strawman" in your mind. Continue living your life in fear of the BR boogeyman.

@mcnichoj: Total strawman. No one here is "living in fear of BR boogeymen" we're just tired of terrible cash grab games, especially those that abuse existing IP that have nothing to do with a BR setting. Seriously, VtM is just about the LAST IP that would lend itself to the genre.

The whole point of VtM is to NOT stand out and NOT draw attention to the existence of Vampires, and yet here they have you running around a city hunting and killing each other in the open, while a sphere closes in on you threatening to kill you if you're not the last vampire standing?

It's utter BS and I don't know why you are simping so hard for them at this point.

Also if we're going back in time, must I remind you that I pointed out that the fact that other bad games are coming out are irrelevant to the conversation.

@Akriel_Boulve: "The whole point of VtM is to NOT stand out and NOT draw attention to the existence of Vampires" That's literally a mechanic in this game.

"I don't know why you are simping so hard for them at this point" And I don't know why you keep going on about strawmen from others when you just built an entire army of them and outfitted them nicely and even provided them each with back stories. When did I ever say I even cared about this game? I played one match, lasted about a minute and then uninstalled. I didn't particularly care for it, doesn't mean I have to go around the internet crying about it.

"I pointed out that the fact that other bad games are coming out are irrelevant to the conversation" Well the person I originally replied to was having a melt down over BR games, so actually it is completely relevant. That person acted like only BR games ever come out which couldn't be any further from the truth. We're gonna see something like 50+ releases between PS, Xbox and Switch this month with zero BR games coming out. Like go buy Pokemon Arceus and enjoy yourself, no one gives a **** about your preferences of a game genre.
