Sega has confirmed that it will release the North American version of Shenmue for the Dreamcast in Japan. Simply titled US Shenmue, the game is scheduled for a release on July 5 for 3,000 yen. The dialogue and voices featured in the game will be in English. Players in Japan will also be able to use the English version of the Shenmue Passport and join in the worldwide ranking mode. The save data in US Shenmue can also be used in the upcoming Shenmue II. Though no official date has been announced for Shenmue II at this time, we expect to have further updates on the game next week.

@DukeLuckyLuke Yea, very dumb ideA. Why would Japan want an Anerican edition of the game that's no different - save for the English dialogue?
