US console sales charts: May 28-June 3

I think Hitman will stay at the top for tow more week's.

I (a nintendo fan) am pretty pleased with these results. I want the 360 to blitz the market all the way up to the Wii/PS3 launch. Just DS/360 in the top 10 is i think would be best and im sort of getting it. Take that sony

UltimaCloudX the demo is just the tutorial, once you get into the real game you see what's hitman really about.

Madden 2006 with 2007 around the corner? Makes you think that there must be a lot of new 360 owners this month. I do see one or two in the story, a lot now.

Hmm... I downloaded the demo of Hitman on xbox live; but I did not like it. Perhaps I did not give it enough time to work its way into my blood, but the controls, and everything else in the demo just turned me off...

I was afraid that X-Men III would be up there. Glad it isn't.

They probably pick Best Buy's sales chart because they are the largest video game retailer and they post their sales FASTER than any independent reports. I can't find any other sources right now for game sales in May '06. Found plenty of info on April sales, though. Anyone care about April anymore? No? Didn't think so. Take it for what it is.

Granted, Best Buy's website doesn't give us the entire picture, but they are among the top five game retailers in the U.S. so their numbers are worth analyzing. If GameSpot could get aggregated numbers from GameStop/EB, Wal-Mart, Target, and Circuit City, that would be great, but this information as is stands isn't worthless.

trancejeremy pointed something good out. Kinda funny how BestBuy.com is apparently the end all. To be honest, I have only bought one game there, once. Seems like they must get a lot of business if they can predict the entire market off of it, though...

Two Nintendo DS games in the top ten is great news. In the US the charts are dominated by Microsof and Sony, so it's great to read that Nintendo (at least for a week) has managed to put two titles in the top ten. I hope that this trend will continue, although it will be very hard...

trancejeremy is right this only represents the best-buy fraction in my country - the netherlands aka holland this game is really on top and its doin good in the rest europe too but i think thats only becuz of the fact that there arent any games out at the moment u' d consider "must-buys" there is no metal gear.. there is no splinter cell and such and such not to say that hitman wouldnt stand on his own against the rest or that it a 2nd choice its just that right now there isnt any competition

yeah of course best buy represents only a fraction, a survey, or look a a very broad population hardly ever sees every little bit but as long as the sample size is adequate then its a realistic reresentation of the situation as a whole

And just for record. Regardless who you're a fan of, I have a feeling that MS, Sony and Nintendo are going to be around for a long, long, time.

Some of you amaze me with some of your comments. Why would Best-Buy put out numbers for EB, GameStop or for the WORLD for that matter? All of these other companies put out their own numbers too. Look on a "worldwide", "regional", USA, UK, or Japan, chart if you want a broader look on gaming sales{personally I don't know why you would care since their not splitting the profits with us unless you happen to work for them then lucky you...lol}. Just look at the topic before posting something that the topic is NOT about. Get the hint, trancer? killswitch? Of course it only represents Best-buy numbers, it says that AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE! Some of you have a keen sense for the obvious. Try reading before posting!

I bought the PC version of Hitman. It was cheaper and the atmoshereics are better. p.s. I have only bought 2 games from bestbuy in my life. heh.

These numbers don't even represent the market as a whole, only Bestbuy, which frankly only accounts for a small fraction of retailers. I'd like to see some official sales charts of all companies, not just one specifically. Anyways, Hitman seems to be a popular title; I might have to check it out.

If A PS2 title was in the #1 spot, then the complainers wouldn't care if it were a Best Buy sponsered top 10. Seems to really bother people when 360 is in the limelight on any given topic.

Even though this is only bestbuy.com sales chart it still reflects what games are selling. You think sales or approval numbers are calculated by asking ever person in the US what they bought or would vote for. NO. What you think playstation users buy from circut city and xbox users buy from best buy.
