Hunt: Showdown -- February 18

Available on: PS4

No Caption Provided

For the uninitiated, Hunt tasks you with tracking down a monster on a large map--but you're not alone. Whether you play solo or with a friend, any other player can turn their sights on you and end your hunt early. If your character dies, they're gone forever, along with any gear they have equipped. What's more, successfully slaying the monster puts a bounty on your head, sending all those other hunters after you.

Dante's Awakening lets you play as both Dante and his brother Virgil. For the first time, you and a friend can team up for some cooperative stylish action in the Bloody Palace survival mode. That's one of the new features in the Switch version of DMC 3, alongside the ability to swap weapons and fighting styles on the fly.

I like how in the west, Double Dragon gets top billing over the Kunio-kun games, while in Japan, it was billed as the Kunio-kun Collection with three bonus games that turned out to be the DD trilogy.

The gaming industry is starting to sound like Disney with how much they recycle games that have been out already...

Anyone and everyone who has never played vanquish should. Aside some messy convoluted narrative bits here and there it’s one of Platinum’s best, indeed possibly one of the best 3rd party, 3rd person shooters ever made!

"If your character dies, they're gone forever, along with any gear they have equipped." Yeah, no thanks.

@lexruthless: Agreed. This is worse than never having any accrued gear/progress. It's the opposite of rewarding players for continuing to play your game instead of the thousands of other choices.

@Pyrosa: It's not too bad it depends how you play, you have to be tactical in terms of when you should leave etc and you can easily find another character that has some of your favourite stuff already equipped if you die. I found the main problem on PC was aim bots and cheaters ruining the experience. Like you would play really cautiously without too many risks then boom you were shot from somewhere even though you're hiding indoors, so maybe the console version will be better in that sense.

So, just like every other MP game on PC?

@aross2004: The stakes are worse when you lose your character though.

@gamingdevil800: Of course, you are right. This is why I would never get near this game on PC, but I would definitely consider it on console.

It wouldn't look as pretty or run as good, but I would make that sacrifice to not have to deal with cheaters/bots, etc.

@aross2004: ah vanquish, the bane of my platinum collection (trophies, not the dev). it was such an awesome game, but i never managed to beat that final challenge back then. nowadays i (thankfully) do not care about that anymore, but hell yeah that was a great game.

doubtful we'll see a protagonist like that again, at least until the #metoo2 male uprising of 2045.

@aross2004: Yeah, it's going to be difficult to avoid playing these two again.

This won't be a popular opinion, but I love both of these, and simply never cared enough about Nier:Automata to finish it. No contest IMO.

@Pyrosa: Nier isn't for everyone, (I loved it, but I think Vanquish is Platinum's best game to date).

And the "popular opinion" is more often than not contrary to how I felt about a game, so you shouldn't worry about it too much. ;)
