Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Documentary Planned Through Indiegogo

The Birdman chronicles.

No series captured the pre-millennial gaming zeitgeist quite like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. 18 years and 30 million Tony Hawk game sales later, an enterprising filmmaker is looking to tell the story of Tony Hawk's involvement in video games.

Along with accounts from Tony Hawk himself, this film will also feature developers and skaters who helped create everything from the first Pro Skater to the most recent fifth installment and the many games in between.

Now Playing: GS News Update: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Documentary Announced

Titled Pretending I'm A Superman, this documentary is being produced by Ralph D'Amato, who was also a producer on Tony Hawk's earlier games. His personal experience and inside line to the many others involved with the franchise should add considerable credibility to this project, which you can learn more about here.

I loved the Neversoft behind the scenes videos put on the game discs. Hopefully, this documentary will have that same feel to it.

I imagine its gonna be like one of those documentaries about an amazing musician that definied a generation but ruined their career from all the alcohol and drug abuse except without the feelgood redemption story at the end where they pulled themselves out of the gutter and become an inspiration to those who have fallen from grace. Tony hawk pro skater is like the lindsey lohan of video games, a star that shone brighter than any other but something went horribly wrong and the only kind of exposure it has now is people placing bets on when it will officially die. Activison should at least give tony hawks one last hurrah and release a tony hawks pro skater legacy HD collection consisting of HD remasters (not remakes) of 1,2x,3,4,thug,thug2 and thaw so peoples last memory of the franchise isnt that abomination thps5.

I'm pumped for this doc. Even with some lackluster titles, it's an iconic franchise.

@ZIMdoom: Yup. THPS 2 and 3 are in the top 10 highest rated games of all time on metacritic.

Man, I can remember playing that game when it first came out on Dreamcast (Ported from the Playstation.).

Was doing "nose grinds" and "Japan air's" for days, lol.
