Late last year, Dark Horse unveiled plans to reissue Top Cow's Tomb Raider comic book series, which originally ran from 1999 to 2005. Tomb Raider Colossal Collection Volume 1 is slated to release June 24 and currently priced at $93 (was $100) at Amazon. The 888-page hardcover book has been available to preorder since November, but now you can also preorder the even larger second volume. Tomb Raider Colossal Collection Volume 2 is 944 pages and up for preorder for $100 ahead of its November 25 release.

If you buy both volumes, you'll have a nearly comprehensive collection of Tomb Raider: The Series, which ran for 50 issues. Volume 2 also contains comics from Top Cow's follow-up series as well as a handful of one-shots. In total, you're looking at more than 1,800 pages of comic stories starring Lara Croft.

Top Cow's Tomb Raider comics have long been out of print, and the older "Archive" editions fetch an astronomical sum on the reseller market, often going for hundreds of dollars each.

In case you're wondering, Issue 25 saw Lara Croft team up with Witchblade. Tomb Raider was licensed to Top Cow at the time, and with the rights lapsed, it's likely that there were probably a few legal issues that made it easier to omit that particular comic book rather than include it.

Tomb Raider Colossal Collection: Volume 2

Volume 2 of Dark Horse's Tomb Raider Colossal Collection finishes Lara Croft's first comic book arc with Issues 35-50. It also includes the two prequel comics.

After you finish reading Tomb Raider: The Series, you can dive into. Tomb Raider: Journeys. Volume 2 contains all 12 issues of Top Cow's miniseries. Five Tomb Raider one-shots round out the hardcover collection.

Top Cow's Tomb Raider comics released when the franchise was in its heyday, so they were quite popular at the time. The comics are set in the same continuity as the games developed by Core Design, making a few tweaks to Lara Croft's story along the way. A pretty talented roster of artists and writers were involved in this series, including Dan Jurgens, Adam Hughes, Michael Turner, Andy Park, Marc Silvestri, David Finch, and several others.
