If you're looking for a gift for a Minecraft fan this holiday, the newly released World of Minecraft book would probably be a big hit. Created by Mojang Studios and published by Random House Worlds earlier this week, The World of Minecraft is a 224-page hardcover book packed with rare production materials, in-game lore, and real-world history about the game's development, making it the most comprehensive book of Minecraft information to date.

For the collectors out there, there's also The World of Minecraft Special Edition, a numbered limited edition with a more premium design and extra goodies. Amazon is offering a 20% preorder discount on this very expensive limited edition ahead of its publication on October 29.

The standard edition of The World of Minecraft is a 224-page hardcover book packed with behind-the-scenes insights on the creation of the iconic game. The book covers everything from the history of Minecraft characters and creatures like Alex and the Phantom, as well as stories from the wider Minecraft community, including mods like Feed The Beast, popular servers like Hypixel, and YouTube channels like The Yogscast. The book will also include tons of concept art, high-resolution renders of in-game assets, and never-before-seen development materials.

The World Of Minecraft Standard Edition released October 15, and you can save 30% at Amazon, dropping the price from $40 to $28.

For the die-hard Minecraft fans out there, you'll want to check out the World Of Minecraft Special Edition set. This deluxe package includes an exclusive version of the book featuring alternate cover art and a clamshell case with a reversible translucent sleeve that reveals different Minecraft monsters on the cover. Each special edition book is numbered.

Along with the special edition of the book, you will also get a selection of signed art prints from multiple Minecraft artists including Doug John Miller, Minecraft manga artist Kazuyoshi Seto, and Mojang art director Markus “Junkboy” Toivonen, plus a tri-fold display case for showing them off.

The World of Minecraft Special Edition launches October 29, and preorders are available at Amazon. The book is listed for $250, but preorders are currently discounted to $200. Admittedly, that's still an eye-popping price. In fact, this is one of the most expensive gaming art books we've seen.

Minecraft novels, reference books, and more

Minecraft has been turned into many novels and graphic novels over the past several years. For early readers, your best bet is to check out the Woodsword and Stonesword series, both of which are available in complete box sets with hardcover books. The Woodsword Chronicles 6-Book Box Set is available for only $34 (was $60), and the Stonesword Saga 6-Book Box Set is also discounted to $34 (was $60).

For middle grade and young adult readers, the ongoing series of standalone Minecraft novels offers plenty of exciting reading material. You can start by picking up the Minecraft 3-Book Box Set, which compiles the first three books in the series. The first novel, The Island, was written by World War Z author Max Brooks.

On the graphic novel side, the first three volumes are compiled in this box set for $27 (was $33). You can also get all three volumes in the Wither Without You story arc for $29 ($33).
