The Forza Horizon 5 Xbox Controller Looks Great

One of Microsoft's most striking and unique controller designs arrives this week for the launch of Forza Horizon 5.

Microsoft's latest big exclusive, Forza Horizon 5, is out now with early access ahead of its public debut on November 9. The company is releasing a special-edition Xbox controller with it, and we can now report that the pad looks just as nice in real life as it does in the official images.

The controller--which Microsoft sent to GameSpot--features an eye-catching transparent yellow splatter design featuring blue and pink accents. The same colors are on the sticks and face buttons. On the back are "racing-inspired" textured grips modeled after perforated-style performance car steering wheels, as well as textured bumpers and triggers. The triggers are blue and pink. The front features a hybrid d-pad and the rest of the standard basics. The Horizon "H" is featured in the back of the controller pack.

You can get a closer look at the controller in the image gallery below. Click each image to make it full size.

The controller looks and feels great overall, but the most exciting thing about it is its translucent design that lets you see some of its internal components. This hearkens back to the semi-translucent controller designs that were popular in the '90s. Microsoft is also releasing a 20th anniversary Xbox controller featuring a translucent design later this month.

The limited-edition Forza Horizon 5 Xbox controller comes with exclusive content for the game. This includes a Forza edition car, cosmetic item, and victory emote.

You can buy the Forza Horizon 5 controller for $75 when it goes on sale November 9.

GameSpot's Forza Horizon 5 review scored the racing game a 9/10. "Forza Horizon 5 is another meaningful evolution of the series as opposed to a reinvention, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a case of more of the same," reviewer Alessandro Barbosa said. "Even when it is familiar, Forza Horizon 5 makes small, but thoughtful changes to its established blueprint that hones in on the people behind the cars in a way that the franchise has previously just glossed over."

Disclosure: Microsoft sent GameSpot the Forza Horizon 5 controller and a code for the digital content.

@troubleandbeans: You can change the radio stations with any pad... right on the D-Pad (or what passes for a D-Pad on the Xbox pad).

Nope! Don't know what the heck they were thinking with all that pink. Unless girls are the intended buyer or girly type of dudes, then that's a terrible combination of colors. It looks a little too girly for me with all that pink.

Is that an actual rubberized textured grip or just the plastic with texture added like the standard controllers?
