THQ has announced the release of Tetris Worlds, its latest PC puzzle game, which includes the classic Tetris block-dropping puzzle game along with a variety of new Tetris variations, such as Cascade Tetris, Fusion Tetris, and Hot-Line Tetris. In addition, the game includes a multiplayer mode that lets up to four players compete on the same computer.
Tetris Worlds was previously released on the Nintendo Game Boy Advance, and it is also being developed for the Sony PlayStation 2 for release in December. A Nintendo GameCube version of the game is scheduled for release in 2002. The PC version of Tetris Worlds was created by San Francisco-based Blue Planet Software, the game developer administering the Tetris license, and it will soon be available in stores for an approximate retail price of $19.99.
Various versions of Tetris have been released on 22 different systems since 1988 and have sold more than 60 million units, making Tetris one of the best-selling game properties ever. For more information about Tetris, visit the official Tetris Web site.
