Switch 2 "Reviews" Are Overwhelmingly Negative So Far At One Store
Shoppers are expressing their anger and frustration about not being able to get a Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launches in June, but preorders in the US began today, April 24. Official reviews for the system are expected later, but for now, user reviews at one retailer are available--and they're overwhelmingly negative.
Reviews for the standard Switch 2 console at Target are currently hovering at just above 2/5 stars, with more than 400 people weighing in. Of course, no one actually has a Switch 2 yet, so the reviews are instead focused on the messy preorder experience and other factors.

People are using the review page to express their frustration and disappointment about the preordering experience, which left many people unable to secure a console. Some people claim Target's website and order process was anything but smooth.
To be fair, plenty of other retailer websites had issues, too, presumably due to overwhelming demand. But because Target has user reviews available, people are taking every opportunity to share their thoughts. Why Target would even allow reviews for a product that hasn't been released is unclear.
Extremely high demand for the Switch 2 was always expected, but many were hoping for a smoother experience in terms of reserving a system. The first wave of US allocation is sold out, but Nintendo is expected to--at some point--have more units available to preorder.
If you really can't wait, you can take your chances on the secondhand market with sites like eBay, but you should be very careful and expect to pay a premium.
Preorders were originally scheduled for earlier this month, but were delayed for the US as Nintendo had to assess the impact of Trump's tariffs. There was also some initial concern that the price would change for the console, but only some Switch 2 accessories' prices were raised.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5. Launch titles for Nintendo's latest console include Mario Kart World, enhanced versions of The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild and Tears Of The Kingdom, Street Fighter 6, and Cyberpunk 2077.
