Street Fighter producer does not want main series to stop at IV

Guess we'll never see a nicely 2d animated Street Fighter ever again?

@somatzu @Ranma_X_basic True but Blaz blue only released two additionla games unlike Capcom who feels the need to Release the same game just to add more characters, Tweaks and stuff like that.

Other than graphically, I'm not sure you can get much better than IV.

Unless both the digital upgrade and the retail copy include all existing costumes, I'm still boycotting Capcom.

The game and Capcom have for for how many years milked gamers for any alternate costumes since the first game? While other fighters only charge you alternate costume free.

If the existing costumes are only limited to the retail copy of the game, Capcom can suck on my ****!! I won't buy the upgrade.

I dont think street fighter will ever die.. nor should it, but i do think they need to look at the best features in past SF games and put them together.. I very much miss the risk versus reward parry system in SF3, i love the world tour mode in Alpha 3 etc

Capcom is just milking and refusing to let the game die, period. It's like Microsoft and Games for Windows Live. It's practically a vegetable... but they refuse to let it die. Same formula.

So, how is Ultra Street Fighter bad, exactly? Super Street Fighter IV released in 2010 for $40. The game got a $15 add-on in 2011. Then, it got a free major update in 2012. Now, we're looking at a $15 update in 2014.

If you were involved in Street Fighter from the day Street Fighter IV launced in 2009, you spent $60 on SFIV, $40 on SSFIV, $15 on the Arcade Edition add-on and $15 on Ultra. $130 over a five-year period -- with numerous free patches over that same period -- doesn't seem bad to me. That's a little more than the price of two full, new games. If Capcom is milking, they're doing it wrong.

You're all idiots. This isn't a full priced game they're coming out with. It's an expansion pack. 1/4th the cost of a full game. If you don't have SSFIV then it's half the cost of a full game. Gamers will whine about anything. We're the must self obsorbed and demanding demographic.

The series stopped at three! I don't care what anyone says! It didn't sold very well at home and at the arcades and that's the Street Fighter era (1, 2 and 3) that I remember!

Borderlands 2 Mechromancer Class

This is a great value for real fans of the series. However, the new characters are VERY unexciting for anyone who spent any time with SF x Tekken.

While, from a business perspective, it may seem impressive that Capcom has been able to make money on this title for so long (and is a tribute to the original game design), one can't help but wonder how this prolonged life cannibalizes any other potential new fighters from Capcom. Lately, it's all been patches and "HD" digital re-releases. And it seems like there is nothing new on the horizon either, because the executives want to play it safe with their current cash-cow. Not to mention how keeping SFIV on life support kills hype for SFV.

While I'd love to see a new Darkstalkers, I really don't think it would be worth it for Capcom. SFIV did so well because it is iconic. Even young gamers knew SF characters before SFIV was even a thing. Darkstalkers is more niche, and really always will be.

I am not understanding the hate here... So you can update Super Street Fighter IV: AE for 14.99, which adds 5 characters, 6 Stages, and many fixes in the game. Or if you do not own any SFIV editions the disc based version is 29.99.

@somatzu @Ranma_X_basic The stories were different. Calamity Trigger lead into Continuum Shift. Though if you get CS Extend then you don't need any previous version as it contains a reconstructed version of CT's story.

I wish Capcom would outsource Darkstalkers to Arc System Works if they don't wanna make it themselves. And yes, it (Darkstalkers) was mentioned in the original article that Gamespot left out.

Street Fighter fans such as myself wants to buy fully $60 for fighting games with replay value meaning a good story mode and other variety of gameplay. Will be getting USFIV for I never played any of the SFIV's. Too bad I'll probably end up battling cheap players/spammers online.
