Skyrim May Be Coming To A Bed Or Window Near You According To New Trademark Applications

You may be able to wrap up your baby in an official Skyrim blanket soon.

Seemingly tired of porting Skyrim to gaming consoles, like any other tired developer, Todd Howard is taking the wired approach by potentially bringing the game to the pillowcases, baby blankets, and towels in your home. A series of new trademark applications filed by Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media shows that the company is prepared to stamp any textile it can with "Skyrim," although we'll have to wait and see if any actually hit the market.

The trademark applications, filed on September 6, include the aforementioned household products as well as some out-there ones. Nothing screams "Skyrim fan" like Skyrim-themed curtains, blankets, banners, and flags. While trademark applications filed for products don't always mean they'll end up being produced, if everything listed ends up on store shelves Skyrim fans will be able to effectively cover the inside of their home in the game's name. It's also worth noting that these are trademark applications that haven't been accepted yet.

It shouldn't be too surprising that ZeniMax is filing more trademarks for Skyrim merchandise almost 10 years after the game originally launched. Another re-release of Skyrim, the game's Anniversary Edition, is coming out on November 11, Skyrim's 10th birthday.

This re-release goes above and beyond some of the previous iterations of Skyrim though, with a full suite of Creation Club content loaded right into the game, along with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S optimizations. The kicker here is that players who already own Skyrim Special Edition can upgrade to the Anniversary Edition free of charge.

As for the next entry in the Elder Scrolls franchise, Bethesda is still keeping any details close to the chest. The last update we got on the long-awaited title was in this past June when Howard said that the game was in the "design phase."

"In the design phase". UGH. 10 years later. C'mon Todd. At this pace this will be the longest period between Elder Scrolls games ever. Oblivion to Skyrim was only 5 years. The Elder Scrolls games are your bread and butter. LET'S GO, MAN!!!!

@naomha1: They said that they didn't want to be "just the Fallout/Elder Scrolls" studio and that they didn't feel like doing another game until technology was at the level required to bring their vision for the next game to life.

@Barighm: yea skyrim was lucky that oblivion had so fucked up level scaling, bows and arrows, and other things. otherwise skyrim really would have felt like a dlc.

but bethesda skipped ps4-gen with tes. that wasnt enough tech? what sort of tech they are waiting for? also what games bethesda has done besides tes and fallout? you dont avoid "just the tes/fallout studio" mark just by making tes and fallout games with more space between, without doing other games in between.

yea starfield is somewhere but ive payed almost 0 attention to it as its just concepts and words still.

@PrpleTrtleBuBum: What are you asking me for? That's what they said. I don't know why they said it. I can only assume they envisage something truly ambitious for the next Elder Scrolls. The only thing I can think of that is one the horizon is HBM memory, or at least GPUs with 30gigs+ RAM as the standard (which does seem to be real possibility). Maybe they want to create a game that encompasses the entire continent but functions in real time.

@Barighm: im asking in hopes that someone from bethesda will see the comments and realize what idiotas they are.

ofc every company dreams of making the "GTA real world". but are they going to sit with thumbs up their ass until the day affordable mainstream hardware enables it?

im a bit more lenient with valve because if you really dont have a story idea for half life 3 then perhaps it is better to wait. but they are barely making anything else either so it ends up looking like an excuse. the company suddenly either became hyper perfectionistic or they lost all the talent who could come up with hl, portal etc.

@PrpleTrtleBuBum: Yes. They will sit around until the technology is available. It happens all the time. Some devs have waited 20 years, a good many a lot smaller than Bethesda. Valve actually said something similar (they also said they only want to make multiplayer games, but whatever) and look what happened: new Half-Life game in VR.

I know it's not what fans wanted, and that's perfectly fair, but these are people, you know. Creatives at that. Creatives tend to get bored with making the same game all the time. Would you prefer they do what Activision does and water down the franchise with constant releases until it's dead?

@Barighm: but if they say they dont want to be known as elder scrolls and fallout studio thats a perfect excuse to do something else. you will still be an elder scrolls fallout studio if its all you make but it just takes 10 years between games.

or maybe soon they will be called the elder scrolls fallout starfield studio

@Jd234: I dont think anyone is ready to forget the series. Even if it takes another 5 years to release it will break salesrecords upon release.
