Shenmue 3 Revived at Long Last at E3 2015
Series creator Yu Suzuki launching Kickstarter campaign for the new project; Seeking $2 million.
Shenmue 3, the long-awaited and almost-forgotten cancelled Dreamcast project, could be revived if a Kickstarter project is fully funded.
Series creator Yu Suzuki appeared on stage at Sony's press conference to announce the Kickstarter initiative, and said the resulting project would be a "full-on Shenmue experience". The developer is requesting $2 million in initial funding to start work on the project.
"The fate of Shenmue is in your hands," he said.

Although the project was revealed for the first time on PlayStation's stage during its E3 2015 press conference, it will not be a PS4 exclusive.
Fans have been clamoring for a sequel--or any kind of development in the Shenmue series--for more than a decade. Shenmue II launched on Xbox in North America in 2002, a year after it released in Japan on Dreamcast.
Since then, there have been numerous rumors and reports of Shenmue III coming, none of which have panned out. Series creator Yu Suzuki has expressed a desire to continue the series, but very little has come to fruition. The only new games to bear the franchise's name include an ill-fated MMO and a shuttered mobile game.
