Rocket League Getting New Star Wars Mode And Free Goodies For May 4th
Don't worry, there's plenty of decals, boosts and wheels in the shop too.
Just as Star Wars season starts in Fortnite on Friday, Rocket League is getting its own dose of that galaxy far, far away--which will involve a new limited-time mode called Car Wars, a large pile of stuff you can buy in the item shop, and, as always, some free stuff that you can unlock just by playing the game. This new Star Wars event will run for two weeks, from May 2 until May 16.

The new limited-time mode, Car Wars, will swap out the normal goal for a somewhat more difficult target: a thermal exhaust port, like the one on the Death Star that Luke Skywalker shot a torpedo into. To help you with this task, the Spike Rush mutator will make the ball stick to you for a few seconds while you drive it into the hole.
Rocket League is also bringing back last year's limited Star Wars mode, G-Force Frenzy, a 3v3 mode in which players have unlimited boost--but it's far more powerful than the normal boost.
The event will add a pile of quests to complete for various free cosmetics, including several that should transfer to Fortnite--like the Empire wheels, Force Lightning boost and trail, and a stormtrooper-themed decal for the Octane. There will be a couple quality car toppers available for free as well, including a Stormtrooper helmet and a TIE Fighter.
On the shop side of things, there won't be any new cars for this event, but instead Epic will be selling several existing cars in bundles with new Star Wars decals. The big one is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, which is getting new Darth Vader, Darth Maul and Captain Phasma-themed decals that will be included in the regular price of 2800 credits--and free for those who already own the car.
There will also be a new 800-credit Dominus GT bundle with a General Grievous decal, which should transfer to Fortnite, and an 800-credit Fennec bundle with a Darth Vader decal. And, finally, there will also be an unstable red lightsaber boost for 400 credits, Death Star wheels for 700, and a Death Star goal explosion for 2000.
