Resident Evil Zero HD Screenshot Comparison

Compare what the same shots look like in the new version versus the old one.

With the release of Resident Evil Zero HD approaching, Capcom has released new screenshots highlighting the visual improvements offered in the new version of the game.

This is not by any means a full-on remake; as previous videos have shown, the graphical changes are noticeable, but not overwhelming. Still, considering it was originally released on GameCube in 2002, any updates--such as widescreen support--are welcome ones.

You can compare the graphics in the old and new versions using the slider tool in the images above and below.

Resident Evil 0 HD is just the latest HD remaster to come from Capcom. The publisher has made these types of releases a pillar of its business, and it's likely that we'll be seeing more Resident Evil games get this treatment going forward. We already know Resident Evil 2 is getting a remake.

Resident Evil 0 HD will release as a digital title early next year for PC, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, and PS3. It'll also be available in a physical bundle with the remastered version of Resident Evil for PS4 and Xbox One on January 19, 2016.

Characters look more realistic in the old version, but the environments look better in the new one. Resident Evil graphics at its best is in the first two remake games.

They should add the grain to the hd version, without it kind of looks bland, doesn't have that old cinematic feel to it.

Capcom and third parties are lame for supporting wii u at the start with games people had on there 360 and ps3 then stopping support when wii u users might have brought it you stop supporting it. I have xbox one wii u ps3 and 360 and i have to say at this point there is more chance i would buy a game on wii u than xbox 360 and ps3. So skipping wii u is lame any time you put a game on 360 and ps3

As long as they apply the same treatment they did to the original, than I'm happy and I'll get it. I'm really looking forward to see if they can remake 2 in this same manner or if they'll **** it up.

Doesn't look too different, but it was never released on the pc to begin with, so not much to complain about.

@uninspiredcup: What do you mean doesn't look different? Yes, it looks like the same game obviously, but much much clearer.

This look great, my faith in Capcom is slowly coming back. But do you know what remaster I really want Capcom to make? Dead Rising. Please make it happen!

Absolutely gorgoeus. Since the first one re-released in January I have gone through it 5 times. I can never get enough and even though 0 isnt quite as memorable as the first one I am so excited to go through this again.

Just looks to me like they turned the brightness up in options and why does left images look blurry and grainy that is not even what old game looked like those images were photoshopped. This is so fake.

@whirlwind12: The old game was blurry because it wasn't progressive scan. 480i FTW. It's not fake. Of course we don't remember it as being blurry because every game looked like that. If you were to go back and play it now you would see it.

@whirlwind12: if you played it on an actual GameCube with a composite cable it totally did look like that. That's 480i.

With this and RE2 remake incoming, they only need to remake RE3 and remaster RE:CV for PC too and the collection will be complete.

@andrebetoche: Ya I am really hoping they they also remake 3. that game still scares me. I cant even imagine what Nemesis would be like in a remake stalking me all the time.

I honestly prefer the original version of rebecca and billy for that matter, but the backgrounds look sharper.

Looks even more amazing, i can't wait to play this on PC or Xbox One early next year! My Wii version has already been traded on. I only need a port of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (will probably never happen) & i'll never need to switch on my Wii again :)

do the outbreaks and add the online im sure plenty of us would love to play them 4 player co-op online i beat file 1 years ago and the boss battle at the end was one of the best fights ive ever had in a game.plenty of people never got to play that game online including me.

@nastyhotpocket: I'd love the opportunity to play an Outbreak game (or both) online. I never had the chance (or gave myself the chance rather) back then to see what it was like with other people. The single player was alright, but online co-op was clearly the focus point. That being said, if doing this slows down development for Resident Evil 2 & possibly 3, then it's something that can wait.

It's funny how these games from the PS2 era used to look grainy and blurry AF. Seeing these changes is like going from having bad vision to switching to contacts. So much clarity!

@Simulator_Shock:

The original RE Zero did not look like that I think the images were altered to make the remake look better.

@whirlwind12: They really weren't. It was in 480i and that resolution is blurry. That's why the original Wii looked like balls without component cables. We didn't realize it because we were playing on tube tvs and everything was blurry.

@ck02623: Hey, I'm still playing on a small CRT television (using a HDMI-composite converter), in fact the same television I bought to use with my GameCube...!

Everything is indeed blurry... TT

[Onscreen text: my nightmare]

New games look much nicer though, the resolution may still suck for me, but everything else is infinitely better...

@ck02623: Yeah, and the Gamecube used a composite video cable. Only so much quality can come from that.
