All owners of the base game will receive free access to it, and it will not be available separately.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available in a number of different editions, but before dropping any cash, you'll want to read carefully about what comes in each one. Here's all the information you need to know before you buy Red Dead Redemption 2.

  • Treasure Map
  • Pin Set
  • Playing Cards
  • Wheeler, Rawson and Co. Catalogue

I love how Gamespot keeps rehashing the same article lol. Get a treasure map if you preorder by July 31st. At least strike out what is no longer applicable lazy gits. Collectors box with no game is the biggest take of all time lol. I would love to have seen people preorder that and get home only to discover there is no game lol.

Have they made any statements on what specific enhancements we can look forward to on the Xbox One X version of this game? I just bought a XB1X and was considering purchasing this game for the Xbox but all my close friends only play on PlayStation so I am wondering just how much better this game will look and run on the One X over that of the standard PS4 or if it's not going to be that big of a difference then I can just get it on the PS4 and play with my friends instead. I'm not sure how Rockstar handles these mid-gen refresh systems I mean do they shoot for native 4K in their games or are they more interested in 60FPS? Just a question I had about the game before I pre-order.

I am very hesitant to even consider buying this game after seeing the direction they took with Grand Theft Auto V. If this is gonna be Red Dead Online with flying horses, laser pistols, and 20 million dollar shack houses that require a month long grindfest to attain unless you buy Platinum Horse Cards for $300 then I will certainly pass.

@jayskoon93: Why do you even need to play multiplayer? The single player experience itself should be more than rewarding

@Marky360: I thought the single player aspect of the game was great! It's the GTA Online thing that I dislike so much. After Rockstar noticed that it was pulling in lots of money, they completely abandoned all of us who play the single player portion of the game. Early on, when a GTA Online update would release, they would also update the single player with the same content. After a few months, they completely stopped updating single player and left all of us with nothing new to look forward to. That's my issue. If Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be an online only thing like GTA V has become, then I am not interested.

You know what man you are right about that I mean why can't I ger the Deluxo and Vigilante in the single play and the mammoth thruster dude I'd play the whole single player over again if I could use some of the multiplayer vehicles and weapons in the campaign.

@Marky360: They could even add a lot of the empire type stuff too and the new night club thing coming out. That could totally work in single player. New side missions, objectives, whatever. Then you could actually use those millions and millions and millions of dollars from the stock market in single player to buy into something useful to expand the story!

Yea you got some good ideas man they should hire you at Rockstar. I feel like the reason they don't do this though us because you don't need Sharkcards for single player.

Did they even back in 99? Either way if you pre-order and you find out the game a busted mess you can always cancel. And now(at least on Xbox) you can play the game and still get a refund within like 2 hours of starting it up. So pre-ordering really isn't all that big a deal anymore.

@Marky360: it's the only game i've ever pre-ordered in my entire life, so ya... you can believe me on this and its scared into my memory. I ordered it directly from the EA website. This is before amazon or bestbuy had any kind of significant online existence. I think ebay was just starting out but kinda getting off topic. Actually amazon didn't even sell games to canada for years after it was expanded from just selling books and dvds.

Anyways, yes sir indeed my lad - you could pre-order in 1999. You could even pre-order back in the early 90s from a Vermont catalog called Chips & Bits which used to sell mostly just PC games and some common PC hardware. I bought a Soundblaster AWE32 soundcard in 1995 from them. This is old school at this point, i'm talking about having to phone a customer rep and place an order that way.

Another random thing to put in here... i did have dial up internet in 1995 but there was almost nowhere you could order anything back in those days. Internet was just coming off the more closed networks of compuserve and america online and there were so few online retailers until a few years later.

Does anyone know if the Ultimate edition is limited to digital releases or is there a physical release? Main reason I'm asking is because I'm looking to purchase through Best Buy with my GCU (RIP). The picture here makes it seem like there is a physical version but Best Buy only has a digital item listed.

big scheme are on horizon, different than EA scheme, this time is called preorder and paywall project, RDR2 was announced couple of years ago and nobody sees any gameplay footage only trailers, teasers for trailers, only images from teasers and preorders for nothing, i will not bite.

The number of different offerings is pure toilet and too complicated. I expect this kind of thing from EA or maybe Ubi. . .but not R*, they're supposed to be the cool publisher that reels in all the madness of the industry and show it how it's done.

Seeing what R* have become over the last four years is like watching my best friend sell out and become a complete asshole.

Knowing that it will be riddled with microtransactions as well just makes these options even more impossible to stomach.

@ssdd_again: I'm with you, mate. I think with Benzies gone from R* this will be the norm for them now. He was the one man the Housers listened to and when the GTA Online cash cow was in full swing, he undoubtedly would have had issues with it. Hence why T2 wanted him out.

Rockstar will still make great games but the R* of old is ancient history, post GTA V.

A damned shame.

@DantheMan9856: This is getting ridiculous. I was reading something about if you wanted to get the entire game (everything there is to offer) then you have to basically buy the game twice. I hope I am wrong on that.

If I am not wrong... Then we will be purchasing it in a year, or so, when they re-release it as a complete edition.

@Lach0121: That's come to be my standard practice with new games. Wait a year and buy the GOTY that includes everything for $60.

Buuuuut..... I think I'm going to make an exception in this case. RDR was hands down my favorite game of the last gen and the sequel is shaping up to be just as good.

@bosay831: I dont really care how much systems they sell, I just want quality games. And on XB de coming period they are painfully absent. Everyone knows that quality games can potentially also be systemsellers. So yes a excellent release during the holiday period will sell more consoles, its not even debatable. And just to add to this please do some research and you will find that MS will not make a profit purely of selling a console, in fact they sell at a loss. The money making part of the business is in selling games not hardware. You can ask Phil Spencer for proof. Also this thread is very old.
