Rare Working on "Unique" Project, Says Xbox Boss

Not sure how much creative talent Rare has these days, but I do hope they are working on something akin to what they were once known for.

Gonna need some Battletoads news now, buddys.

The only words coming from Microsoft from now until Battletoads should be BATTLETOADS.

I'll believe it when i see it. Rare hasn't made a good game since 2008.

The new tech in the Halo 5 beta, suspiciously looks very similar to that Perfect Dark 2 tech demo a few years back. The smooth climbing being near identical.

Where is Perfect Dark? The tech demo for a Perfect Dark Zero sequel a few years back looked stunning. It was very like Mirrors Edge.

MS has screwed over RARE as they sit on some awesome titles a return to Perfect Dark would be nice but as long as its not like PD: Zero heck even a Viva Pinata but like the first game would be good I was hooked on it

I personally want a new platformer along the lines of say Ratchet and Clank, Jack and Daxter, or Mario. Something that evolves the genre. Something that brings back the feeling of actually going on an adventure.

Chances are good that they are working on Battletoads games, since M$ just recently trademarked it. They are probaby working on something else as well.

Give us a Banjo-Threeie, Rare, please! A REAL one. Not that Nuts and Bolts mess. And Some more Viva Pinata, Perfect Dark, Conker and Battletoads.

Screw the new interactive kinect crap, bring back the classics.

Rare is making a unique game. In theory this game could be a new hit for Rare. But give the recent history of Rare latest releases this is unlikely. But until it is released we don't know. The odds are against Rare.

Rares been dead for a while.

Viva Piñata would be a good new game. It's actually and surprisingly a very good series. But it's not my t6pe of game. It would a great game for kids though.

trouble in paradise was a fun game. would have been alot better if it was for a more mature audience.

most of the major talent from Rare - including the founders - left ages ago. "Unique" doesn't mean it will be good. They haven't made a decent game since Conker.

Listen up Rare, and Big Phil, I'm one of the demanding entitled annoying fanboys who tells you how to run your company! Seriously though . . . I think I speak for a lot of people when I say WE WANT THIS:

An old school 3D platformer. In fact, I would like to see a game called something like RARE WORLD. It would be a great excuse to merge and bring back a ton of our favorite Rare franchises and Characters . . . an amalgamation of some classic Rare titles.

Gruntilda has returned and has begun to invade other titles and Rare worlds, in a kind of self aware humorous meta game,. so a band of classic Rare Characters have to band together to defeat her, Banjo, Kazooie, Jet Force Gemini, Battletoads, Viva Pinata, Conker etc in the most epic 3D platforming adventure since the n64 days. You could even have the blast corps help out in a mission reminiscent of blast corp, or even venture back further to some 2D titles.

Think Wreck it Ralph but in the Rare universe. Now that would be Amazing.

It's going to be a Kinect Sports game with the option to play with a regular controller, counts as unique :p

Seriously though this is great news. Hopfully the game will be good and the sales will be enough to justify Rare to continue to work on unique games.

I don't think Kinect Sports was a bad concept, just poorly executed. I think Rare & MS would have been better off rebranding it as MS Sport collection or selling the individual games seperetly on XBL as arcade games with tradition controls instead of kinect.

Now if only Sony would let Team Soho make actual games again.

This annoys me because it may twist my arm to get a X1 at some point depending on what title it is, but considering Rare made Battletoads in 1991 and Microsoft recently obtained the IP , makes sense they will be doing another Battletoads.
