Sony's PSP Go launched a little over 12 months ago in Australia and was the company's first foray into disc-less console territory. Despite mixed results and relatively poor sales of the fourth-iteration PSP hardware, Sony has continued to support its experimental console and today announced that it would be dropping the price of the PSP Go in Australia.

Following on from a price drop in the US earlier this week, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia confirmed that from November 1 the PSP Go would be available at the new price point of A$249.95 ($244). This is a A$200 reduction on the PSP Go's original price of A$449.95 ($439) and is the first time since its launch in October 2009 that Sony has seen fit to reduce its selling point.

Topping it off, PlayStation's Aussie arm will also be giving new PSP Go owners 10 free games when they connect to the PlayStation Network before January 31, 2011. Interestingly, this offer will also be made available to existing PSP Go owners who registered their accounts after April 1, 2010. The games are a mix of first- and third-party games, including some of the PSP's highest-rated titles like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and Little Big Planet. Check out the list below to see the full list of games that will be available to new PSP Go owners:

Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories
Gran Turismo
James Cameron's Avatar: The Game
Little Big Planet
MotorStorm Arctic Edge
Need for Speed: Shift
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa
Wipeout Pure

JB Hi-Fi stores across Australia have been offering the bundle mentioned in this article since April 2010 for AU $299 so its only a AU$50 price drop not AU$200.

@panicbroadcast yeah very true, they should have some sort of UMD barcode verification so people who have always supported the PSP can upgrade to the PSP Go and still have the old UMD games they have purchased, otherwise whats the point of buying one for the original PSP supporters who brought it from the beginning and have lots of UMD Games and Movies. Think about it Sony, it makes sense.

The only problem I have with PSP Go is that... what do I do with all my UMD games? There isn't a feature that lets me download them for free when I move to the PSP Go by verifying that I already own them (like some sort of code or something). So eh.

ok, i have a PSP-2000, but with only a few decent games.. paying only that price, with 10 games is a huge bargain, so im considering the upgrade seriously.. well done sony, this was a good move

I'b buy one... If there were actually games available for it! An owner of every "traditional" PSP (PlayStation Portable) to date, I was GOING to upgrade my current device, buy the wife AND son a PSP Go for christmas... Until I discovered that a LLOONNGG list of games is not available for the PSP Go! Despite promises that "all new games will be available for the PSP Go", most games are still released on UMD (universal media disk) only, including many "key" games (such as Kingdom Hearts)! Great price, but completely pointless if you cannot purchase the latest games...
