Pornhub Users Search "Minecraft" a Lot
When Halo and Pokemon porn just won't do, Pornhub users turn to Minecraft.
Following its report on the traffic patterns of console users, adult site Pornhub on Friday released the findings of its latest study. This one focuses on video game searches, specifically around Mojang's hit sandbox game Minecraft.
In a SFW blog post titled "Digging Deep," Pornhub said searches for Minecraft on the site jumped by 326 percent since January 2014; 108 percent of that growth took place in 2015. The site also notes that when a news event happens in the real world, it can affect searches on Pornhub--and Minecraft is no exception.
Searches for Minecraft on May 21, 2015--the day a news story circulated about a fake version of the game infected with malware--searches for Minecraft on Pornhub spiked by 291 percent. When a version of Minecraft for HoloLens was talked about at E3 in June 2015, Pornhub saw a 154 percent increase in searches for the uber-popular game.
In addition to Minecraft, Pornhub users are searching for content related to other big-name game franchises like Halo, Clash of Clans, and Pokemon.
"The average person visiting Pornhub views around 8 pages before finding the right video to get the job done. It's a process of refining results to find that video that fits their current mood," the site said, also supplying the chart below.
Who is searching for Minecraft porn? According to Pornhub, 80 percent are people between the ages of 18 and 24, while people under 25 make up 91 percent of everyone searching for Minecraft porn. "Proportionally, 18 to 24 year olds are 498 percent more likely to seek out Minecraft porn than all other age groups," it explained.
In terms of gender, men were 58 percent more likely to search for Minecraft porn than women. Only 15 percent of Pornhub's Minecraft viewers were women, which is below the site's 24 percent overall female viewership figures.
You're probably wondering what kind of Minecraft porn even exists. But remember Rule 34: if something exists, there is porn of it, and this is true for Minecraft.
"In the interest of science, we looked to see if Minecraft porn actually exists on Pornhub. It turns out, yes it does," Pornhub said. "What does it look like? We'll leave that up to your imagination."
Pornhub also writes that 82 percent of Minecraft porn searches come from mobile devices, including phones (65 percent) and tablets (17 percent). This is significantly higher than Pornhub's typical traffic trends, "which may indicate that people playing Minecraft on their phone or tablet are much more likely to take a Pornhub break during their portable gameplay."
