Comments

Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered today, and instead of asking fans to wait weeks or months to play it, the game was made available alongside the announcement.

On PC, the release is doing huge numbers right out of the gate. The game has climbed above 115,000 concurrent players just hours after it debuted around 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET today, April 22. It's also Steam's No. 1 top-selling game right now.

Oblivion Remastered is also available on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, so the success on Steam represents just a portion of the game's total audience. Steam publishes concurrent player figures, but Microsoft and Sony do not, so we don't have comparable data on console.

Oblivion Remastered is an updated version of the 2006 RPG, developed by French game developer Virtuos in partnership with Bethesda. The game was built using Epic's Unreal Engine 5, and in addition to visual improvements, the game includes an updated leveling system and other quality-of-life improvements.
