Nintendo Switch Eshop Adds Eight New Games This Week

Here's what's new in the Switch Eshop today.

34 Comments

A new batch of games is coming to the Nintendo Switch Eshop. Seven more titles arrive to the digital service today, many of which are definitely worth a look for those anxious to buy something new for their Switch.

One of today's new releases is Yono and the Celestial Elephants, an adorable isometric puzzle-adventure game. Players must help the titular elephant Yono navigate through three dungeons, using his trunk to spray water, shoot flames, and more in order to solve puzzles. The game also features four towns full of NPCs and sidequests, as well as a variety of treasures to find. Yono and the Celestial Elephants runs for $15/£13.

Also available today is Wulverblade, a retro-style side-scrolling beat-'em-up. The game features a "historically accurate" story and has players battling through eight levels in the campaign mode to defeat the invading Roman army. Wulverblade also supports two-player co-op and features an arena mode. It retails in the Eshop for $20/£15.

You can find the full list of this week's Switch releases below, but some other notable ones from today include the latest ACA Neo Geo game, The King of Fighters '95 ($8/£6.29), the wilderness survival game The Flame in the Flood: Complete Edition ($15/£15), the top-down shooter Neon Chrome ($15/£13), and chaotic platformer 88 Heroes: 98 Heroes Edition ($30/£30). Those join the bullet-hell brawler Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle and the retro-style platformer Tiny Barbarian DX, both of which were released earlier this week in stores and in the Eshop. Finally, a free demo for Oceanhorn is also now available to download.

@Chernnunos: that’s what I really loved, getting a Switch for a buttload of neo geo games. Check it week after week...oh, new neo geo games! Who needs Switch games on the Switch when you can have a ton of neo geo games! It could have been NES or SNES or N64 or GameCube or even Wii, but nope, neo geo is the one.

Yono and the Celestial Elephants looks cute. Even though there's rarely an incredible game included whenever these batches of games hit the eShop, it's always good to see the library expand. There are certainly people that will enjoy these games. Also, I have Stardew Valley, so I could play that for the rest of my life.

I was hoping for Battle Chasers to release this month. Does anyone know if that's still coming to switch?

@wahjaheater:

Same here, mine is still on pre-order.

As far as I'm aware it's still on the way, something to do with a Unity update to improve performance the developers said, sorry can't be arsed to find the source.

Looking forward to this one, holding out for the Switch version as I'd rather play any game on Switch given a choice.

Only problem now is that game is now slap bang in the middle of Fire Emblem Warriors, Mario, Skyrim and Xenoblade 2 which sucks, I'm going to have to back log games on the old Switch now. Luckily Stardew and Golf Story came out to cushion the wait.

Waiting for Doom and Skyrim. I already pre-ordered those for the Nintendo Switch. Wolfenstein 2 is a must for me on the Switch as well.

Hmmm - not really anything there that piques my interest. Nice to have releases though.

I'm pissed about the prices of some of these digital games.

Cave Story+ $30

Binding of Issac $40

Tiny Barbarian DX $30

88 Heroes $30

Really? This shit is price gouging.

@wafflekings: yeah, I’ve owned both of them and felt ripped off bc they were no different than playing emulators. That “pixel perfect” is slightly better than the terrible graphics (by today’s standards) on the snes. I really wish they’d clean up the graphics on the snes...the games are fine as they are, it’s just the graphics show their age. We love the core nes and snes, but they could have at least remastered the games to make it worth connecting HDMI. Even the modded classics cannot fit as much as if you simply threw the emulators on your PC or Wii.

@risingdawn: lol, yes drinking their brandy in tailored suits talking politics and the stock market while chamber music plays in the background. All work and no play burns you out faster, better to live during life.

@risingdawn: lol

So people with a job are denied having a hobby. People who are retired must spend all their free time, which is all the time in the world, on something unrelated to gaming because based Risingdawn says so.

You learn something new everyday, ain't it?

I played Wulverblade at PAX this year, and it was actually pretty cool. Aside from a nice art direction, they put in little touches from tons of older brawlers, like a Streets of Rage style screen clearing super, and flashing damaged bosses a la Turtles in Time. Seems like a good time.
