New BioShock PC Remasters Patch Fixes Multiple Issues

At launch, Steam users said BioShock 1 and 2 Remastered's "graphics are only slightly better."

2K released a patch for the remastered versions of BioShock 1 and 2 on PC today. It fixes multiple issues players had reported previously, as well as adds some requested features. The update is now live for both games.

One of the more common problems players had with the remastered games at launch was mouse acceleration. 2K has made improvements to mouse sensitivity, threshold, and buffering. It also fixed issues that were occurring with assigning actions to Mouse Buttons 4 and 5. Additionally, the mouse's icon size is now adjustable and will scale as you change the resolution.

Now Playing: BioShock Remastered Graphics Comparison

Both games now support 21:9 resolutions, while the UI has two different modes when set to these displays: Stretch and Centered. You can also now adjust the field-of-view from 75 to 130.

As for the specific games, BioShock 1 will no longer reset your settings if you shut down the game improperly and Speaker Mode is now a selectable option from the settings menu. Several graphical issues on Nvidia hardware have also been fixed, and new graphics options added for lower-end machines. BioShock 2, on the other hand, has seen performance improvements with DirectX 11 and fixes to several graphic issues with occlusion culling. You can see the patch notes for yourself in the lists at the bottom of the article.

BioShock: The Collection took the entire trilogy and remastered the games for consoles. On PC, only BioShock 1 and 2 were remastered because BioShock Infinite "already meets current-gen console standards and runs smoothly on high visual settings."

If you want to know what type of rig you'll need to run the remastered BioShock games on PC, you can check out the system requirements here.

This remaster is strictly for people born after 2000.

No reason for those to buy this if you've already played the games.

This is without a doubt a lazy uprezzed texture job.

Basically,

Played it before? Don't buy.

Never EVER played Bioshock? Go for it.

@digishah: Exactly, the same way Skyrim will be handled.

However, it's now sold bundled with the original ($20 through steam). So if you did not previously own the game on PC, it is by no means free.

And you could easily see the game hit sales of under $5, but now it's a "new" game that isn't likely to happen soon.

I thought the biggest issue with most was the crashing all the time, althow that settings reset was a bug to, But mostly the crashing and loosing saves, how come no fix for that. other stuff in patch is ok, but the biggest issue gets NO fix.

@nikolistary: I have enough consoles. Playing shooters with gamepad still sucks. Not everyone is casual gamer, you know?

So, is there still no raw mouse input? Mouse acceleration isn't something you improve, it's something you turn off.
