We're midway through May, which means Xbox Live Gold members are getting more games to download and play for the low, low price of free.

As announced previously, Lara Croft an the Temple of Osiris is free on Xbox One starting today, May 16, while backwards-compatible Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is going free on Xbox 360.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

On Xbox One, Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - Director's Cut will remain free until May 31, so you still have time to pick up that game before it returns to its normal price.

In other Xbox Live news, a huge sale on Xbox One backwards compatibility games is going on now, featuring discounts on Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto IV, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II, among others.

May 2017 Games With Gold Lineup

Xbox One

  • Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - Director's Cut (May 1-31)
  • Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris (May 16-June 15)

Xbox 360

  • Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga (May 16-31)

@Mirimon78: What's the matter with you? Where's the harm in offering 4 free games, all of which scored at least 70% on Metacritic, to anyone with Gold in a single month?

You may not want the games of course; frankly I tried Giana sisters and Star Wars Unleashed 2 but found I didn't really like them and I have no interest in any Lego games although, again, they are generally highly rated. I'd expect the Lara Croft one to be pretty good though - the first one was, which was also free with Gold a year or 2 ago. It's true that this is a pretty weak month for the Gold games.

But, again, there's 4 of them, entirely optional, and they're free...so why complain? If you have an xbox just wait a few more days to see what we will get for free next month. If you don't then why do you care?

@Mirimon78: If you already have Gold (for MP, or demos, or updates or whatever), which the majority of xbox gamers have, it's free because you DON'T NEED TO PAY ANYTHING EXTRA. If you don't have GOLD and sign up for Gold just for these couple of games then you're right, it's not free. But seriously, who does that?

And I'm not disputing that there are some games out there that are better than the 4 we have been offered this month (Time Gal looks a bit rubbish frankly, although I've never heard of it til now), my point is that these 4 have been offered free (see the above) this month... so why complain?

If I was walking down the street and someone said "Hi. You already pay £15 per month for your home broadband. Because of that, we'd like to offer you any or all of these 4 free ebooks", but I didn't like anyone of them, I'd just say "not for me but thanks" and walk off. Not, "those ebooks are crap...Weaveworld by Clive Barker is miles better!!"

@Mirimon78: I don't pay to use Bing. I use it through Cortana, and it costs me nothing to use it. So what...because I need to pay for internet...electricity...use my own time...it isn't free?

I feel no shame using a free service that provides me another service for free which provides me games for free.

@sealionact: well, the people did choose her, technically. It's that whole rigged electoral college that's an issue.

As for NK , having spent a couple years on the DMZ in my 20+year military career they need to be taken care of, it's a hot mess. While a sudden change could lead to trouble for the people, keeping that nutjob holding all the power will likely be disastrous (talking about Kim, not the tangerine infant... he needs to go also). It can be handled with minimal deployment of troops, but, it won't change the budget spend much at all, with or without action. Defense needs the money, but they are also spending it poorly thanks to a corporate civilian way of running business.

All of which is beside the point, you spent money for games. Division, shifting of portions and renaming then is all the same thing done to make you feel better, to make you think you got something good all to get you to part with your earnings.

@Mirimon78: Whoa. You started a post without "lol".
Regardless, the people didn't choose Hilary either which is why you are paying the price - we'll still be in Europe playing our free Xbox games while Donald taxes you for military action against N. Korea, so that the people wil "love him.."

I know which I'd prefer. Did I win?

@Mirimon78: No, no my little troll friend. I paid for live. Gamed online, cancelled it and paid nothing next month when I had 4 games on my HDD. Didn't cost anything..hence....free.

Next month, a friend gave me an old game for free which had a free trial of Xbox live.... downloaded more games and ....drumroll...i didn't pay anything for them. Free games rule!

@Mirimon78: You pay for Xbox live. You keep some of those games that you download for ever, whether you pay for live or not.

So, download the games when you have live, cancel live THEN play the games...hey presto... free gaming without live.

See? We can all be stubbornly childish too.
