Microsoft Is Happy If You Got Your Xbox Series X Early

Microsoft has given the green light for players who got their Xbox Series X early to start playing games.

The Xbox Series X and Series S is available now worldwide, but some lucky players managed to get their consoles earlier, and have already been playing for a few days. As it turns out, that's totally fine with Microsoft, and the company gave these lucky few the green light to start playing the console early without fear of repercussions.

We saw an Xbox Series X that appeared to be delivered too early to a player in Portugal last week, but it's unclear if this person is who the Xbox team is acknowledging. However, while Microsoft did welcome players to start playing if they got their system already, it said that more pre-launch patches--both for the system itself and for games--are still on the way. The experience early players get could be slightly inferior to the one players get on launch day.

Now Playing: Xbox Series X Unboxing

If you are waiting until November 10 to play your new Xbox Series X or S, you can still take some steps to make the transition smoother. On Xbox One, you can move your games to an external drive, and this can be plugged into the Xbox Series X/S for immediate access to Xbox One games. You can also get the Xbox mobile app on your phone, as you'll be using it for setting up your new console. The process of booting it up will take only a few seconds because of its super-fast SSD. Loading games will also be very quick.

For more on the new systems, check out our Xbox Series X review and Xbox Series S review. We also have an Xbox review roundup containing information on several launch titles, and an Xbox order guide to help you figure out where to buy it.

The first batch always has a few bugs. Im sure the PS5 will too. The restock shipment will be better. In this way alone, its best not to be the "day one" person and just wait to own one.

Whether one gets one early doesn’t change the fact that it will be useless since there are no dedicated enhanced games for it yet, let alone exclusives.

Quick resume alone is going to make my regular Xbox One gaming much more enjoyable.

Yeah, these all were sent to FedEx last week, but the email from FedEx explicitly says "holding delivery until 11/10"...

Makes me wonder how many regional FedEx depots are clogged with boxes and just say "get this stuff off my shelves; no one ever complains about early deliveries."

LOL, like people need the "green light" from MS. Of course they are going to start playing it.

@BassMan: They actually do need a greenlight. In the past companies would ban people for logging in with a console early.

@BassMan: i think its more about ppl being banned or such for playing consoles or games before they was greenlit in the past.

MS says practically "no worries,go ahead"

@sladakrobot: Which companies actually banned people though? The consumer is not bound by NDA or a street date. If they get the product early, they are free to enjoy it. Not only is banning people terrible PR, but the legality of it comes into question.

Salty comments, eeehhhhh. MS is basically trying to PSA that more games are being patched before release & that they shouldn't pre-judge just yet. Makes sense if you have a brain!

I am dying to get mine early & can't wait to hear that soothing new intro tune. I ordered mine on Amazon & most likely will get it late.

@gatsbythepig: I'm guessing that they might even be taking a hit on the consoles, so at this point Microsoft would probably much rather you just get Gamepass for PC. Lol.

Microsoft loves everything positive that ever happens to because Microsoft just wants to be your buddy, doesn't that just wanna go out and buy an Xbox Series X?

Seriously though, Microsoft... Tone it down a little, you're trying too hard and everyone can see it. If you want to improve your image, there are far better ways than this. But hey, credit where credit is due, congratulations on not targeting the absolute lowest common denominator by going full Virtue Signaling Mode and trying to improve your image by throwing your employees under the bus by targeting some awkward guy at the office who's always hitting on all his female co-workers or something.

@Blk_Mage_Ctype: Nothing wrong with trying hard. Anytime you ever think that is when you need to worry more about yourself than others.

@Blk_Mage_Ctype:

Not sure what needs to be toned down ? Sorry I don't get it with your comment ??

Microsoft just making sure that it's ok to start using the system BUT there maybe issues. Some companies lock down releases right until the exact time they say. I think the reason Microsoft is doing this is that some services are not fully up and running for there new system.

At least this way if someone complains of issues they can't... they have to wait until everything is up and running and patch properly or as required.

Anyways... no offence but I see nothing wrong with what they are doing. Can't wait myself, both Ps5 and Xbox Series X arriving this week. :)

Lucky those that got the Series X so early..... meanwhile I have to wait till Tuesday.

Question to those with a Xbox One X....are you guys keeping it or trading it in?

As the Series X can do everything the Xbox One X can plus a lot more I wonder myself what I should do with it.

@johnny0779: Move it to another room. Designate the new one as "Home Xbox." When friends come over to visit, they'll use the new one for free w/any acct, and your acct will still have full access to your library from ANY Xbox, including your old one.

i.e., full-screen MP & Co-Op on separate consoles in side-by-side rooms. We have four and it works beautifully.

Packing mine up. It's a "Scorpio" edition so might hold on to it for now. That or give it to family / friend to use.
