Madden's Super Bowl 59 Prediction Was Right--Eagles Beat The Chiefs And Hurts Wins MVP

EA's predictions have been both eerily accurate and completely wrong in recent years. We're looking back at the past 10+ years to see how things have shaken out.

Super Bowl LIX took place on Sunday, February 9, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles duking it out for the title. EA's 2025 simulation using Madden NFL 25 predicted the Eagles would beat the Chiefs by a score of 23-21. In reality, the Eagles did win. By a much bigger margin of 40-22. The simulation also predicted that Eagles QB Jalen Hurts would be named Super Bowl LIX MVP--and he was.

The game was predicted by Madden--and many others--to be a close one. However, it was not. The Eagles blew out the Chiefs, with Kansas City only putting up big numbers in the game's garbage time to make the score look closer than it was in reality.

With an accurate prediction, EA's Madden Super Bowl simulation has now been correct two years in a row, as it also predicted the Chiefs would win 2024's Super Bowl, which they did.

EA's predictions in the past have been eerily accurate, like in 2015 when the simulation predicted the Patriots' comeback victory against the Seattle Seahawks--and the final score--along with the exact type of pass play that made it happen. It was spooky. But EA isn't always that accurate with its predictions. Sometimes, the simulation gets it very, very wrong.

As you'll see below, EA's track record for predicting the winner has been a mix.

EA got off to a hot start by accurately predicting the Super Bowl winners four straight years, from Super Bowl 38 to Super Bowl 41. Since then, however, the simulation never got it right more than two years in a row, but it also never got it wrong for more than two straight years.

Off the field, companies spent as much as $8 million for 30-second advertisements on Fox, which carried the game this year.

I hate that Madden made my Panthers lose the Super Bowl against Denver! After all the hard work that team put into the 2015 season! I think the Carolina Panthers should sue Madden and the NFL for allowing this simulation to take place and directly affect the psyche of the universe!

Down with Madden! Damn Madden! Down with Madden! Damn Madden!

Every year there's another one of these inane articles.

How are you not embarrassed?

@dmblum1799: This quote and the speech Frank gives about how silly the idea of a queen is to us, are my favorites.

Its a 50/50 shot, so getting it right 50% of the time is nothing more than simple probability.

it's a hit and missed and it shouldn't be a reliable source for those to bet "big money" on it.

"Whether or not that happens remains to be seen, but EA’s predictions in the past have been eerily accurate"

"As you’ll see, EA’s track record for predicting the winner has been a mix. In the past 10 years, EA’s simulation has accurately predicted the winner five times and gotten it wrong the other five times."

What does it all mean? Looking at the past decade-plus, EA has accurately predicted the Super Bowl winner 50% of the time, which is impressive.

These three statements are impossible to reconcile together. They've literally been as accurate as flipping a coin. That's....not at all "impressive"?

@BeefoTheBold: they also conveniently only show 9 Super Bowl games when the article clearly says they will look at the last 10 years. Showing the 9 games puts them at around 56%....

@BeefoTheBold: Get over yourself. It's clearly a typo. 65% is pretty impressive. If you could pick games right 65% of the time, you'd be a rich man.

@hosedandhappy: Picking 65% in the gambling world straight up isn't a big deal. 65% against the spread on the other hand, is.

@BeefoTheBold: It is so bizarre that someone could write that sentence that being as accurate as a coin flip is impressive.
